You've had your Aventador SV delivered already? Must be one of the first. Post some pics. I love them!

Here you go. Alex Penfold is coming to do some proper pics in a week or two so he'll doubtless post a few up.

PS, please don't report me to the bad parking thread. It was just there a minute when I went round to give a friend's son a spin!

That's lovely. They really are bonkers aren't they! I know the attention my previous Lamborghini's got. It must be off the scale in that!

Thank you. It is almost like an entirely different car to the standard Aventador in a way that the Murci SV wasn't. It does attract a lot of attention, but then I guess if you want a quiet life, don't order an orange Aventador SV! It is so fast and so capable and yet still requires massive concentration. Early days, but possibly my favourite Lambo ever.

Diablo, you've spectacularly misread Alex, who, knowing him a bit, and having seen your attitude here, is ten times the man you are.

He never insulted you, explained himself and his thinking, and you disagreed.
Fine.
No need to talk down like that though, none at all.
Haven't misread him at all , you stick up for him all you want . Your pal just jumped on the bandwagon after the other troll spouted some cr-p on here and started given large with his under 30 ego and saying old Lamborghinis were cr-p . As far as I'm concerned you all need to be in a kindergarten not on Pistonheads forum . But then , there's no age limit on here so as long as your mum let you stay up late enough you can all do what you like .

I've owned a Diablo 6.0, Murci SV, Aventador and now an Aventador SV. With the possible exception of the standard Aventador, in my opinion they are about as far from "sanitised crap" as it is possible to imagine. The Murci SV tried to kill me several times and the Aventador SV is utterly ludicrous, and unbelievable fun.
Thanks for backing my post up.

Diablo and Aventador are polar opposites, one makes the other look like sanitised crap.

But hey, good to get the validation from A FELLOW OWNER.

Custard test, or a piece of paper with your alias on next to your Lamborghini ... I've seen enough fantasists on here in my time, and going all caps lock on us doesn't help your case. I personally think you're lying, much like if I said I own an F430 and that it's good to be in the company of FELLOW SUPERCAR OWNERS.

My last post on this though. If you make an excuse, then that says it all ... Who wouldn't post a pic of their P&J on a motoring forum?! Especially when others have done similar, many of which have fleets of supercars.

By the way, I could post lots of F430 pictures. My friend has one. However I'd never pass it off as my own.

I'm not sure how my comment backed up your post but if it makes you happy in some sort of internet point-scoring fashion then so be it.

The standard Aventador was to my mind sanitised in comparison with all the other Lambos I've owned and the many others I drove when I was a member of P1, Seagrave and Ecurie 25 (first gen manual Murci, LP640 with paddles, Gallardo, Gallardo SL and possibly another Gallardo. Never driven a Huracan so can't comment on that). The gearchange on my Aventador wasn't great and the suspension felt too soft, and overall it was as close as I've come to being disappointed with a Lambo. That said my car was an early one and by all accounts tweaks to the software since then have significantly improved the car, and by no means would I ever describe it as crap. Relative to the other Audi era Lamborghinis though it didn't quite do it for me.

Given your obvious distaste for the more modern cars I assume you own a Diablo or Countach or another model like a Jalpa? What do you think of it in all honesty? One of my most memorable car related experiences was being driven down an Autobahn in a friend's early Diablo (i'm guessing this would have been about 1992/3 from memory). I don't think I've ever felt so scared in a car in my life! Loved my 6.0 but I think the early cars were much, much scarier proposition.

Lamborghini had little choice but to make the Aventador a bit more refined IMHO. What changed the landscape was the Veyron. Blindingly fast but civilised too. Since then people have expected their hypercar to cover all the bases. The F12 is more civilised than the 599 but you don't hear people bhing about that...

Having a slightly more rounded base model also allows for the manufacturer to cash in with more hardcore variants, hence the popularity of SL's, SV's, Specilales and TDF's etc. Manufacturers aren't stupid. They know their markets. Why sell one model that's a compromise when you can sell two that do 2 separate jobs?

Case in point being easytiger (and theres others on here too). He's bought 2 Aventador's, one base, one hardcore. If the original had been more hardcore, he may not have bothered. As it is Lamborghini got 2 sales.

Excellent points. They'll get 3 if they bring out a run-off GT version too!

ETA Unless it's sanitisied and crap obviously...

Winklemanns done a decent job it has to be said . Lamborghini has always struggled with finances since the early 1970's . They were always known for limited runs of production cars not because they were expensive or didn't have customers , they simply couldn't produce the cars quick enough . It was not until Audi took over things began to change , a lot of the labour intensive tasks were now computerised and the company were producing cars quicker . The Murcielargo and Gallardo were the standard models and they produced enough of these cars over a 10 year period that outnumbered to total of cars produced by Lamborghini over the previous 50 years . The ultimate Lamborghini car produced today apart from its limited number run of Veneno's , Sesto Elemento,s , Reventon,s and one off Aventador J and Egoista is the Aventador . It's an awesome car in its own right , but it hasn't got the appeal of much rarer or early cars . It just hasn't been around long enough and it was never ground breaking when it was released . All then same it's a car that has 700bhp up modified 0-60 in 2.9 seconds or so . Would I want one ? Yes . Would I rather have a Countach ? Yes . Reason being doing 0-60 in 2.9 seconds is not important to me neither is doing 217 mph . What's important is how the car makes you feel , and the early Lamborghini,s to the Lamborghini enthusiast is a much more special occasion . Don't really matter what model it is Miura , Jarama , Diablo , Countach , they are all that little bit more special .
There isn't anything or anyone who can change that for me .
