What he said - even worse in Guernsey where they have basically stopped sales of higher octane fuel unless you literally beg them to bring you some over!

Paid 1.26 for v power on friday night in Somerset frown

Can we turn this thread into a Brexit discussion, you know, for fun?

Does the ferry cost from Guernsey not negate the saving though?!

All that jazz said:
I would argue that 30 mpg for a 250hp turbo petrol motor is fairly acceptable imho.
30mpg is rare. Currently it's running at 22mpg.

My M3 does better. But it's a great family car the ST

I think shell is taking us for a ride with v power at 145ish your far better of with momentum99 together with the generous tesco vouchers you can use on fuel or shopping.M99 is 131 and I believe its the same as v power.

V Power is still 1.39 a litre at my usual station, no idea what Momentum is but I’m sure the 16 mile round trip to the nearest Tesco would negate the bulk of the difference, even at the indicated 16mpg I’m currently getting.

My last fill up was with Momentum at 131.9p. I believe the shell nearest me is around 144.9p for v power. I just don't believe it is worth it at all!

Exactly the same here. I notice no difference at all in terms of performance and economy between the two, so it's a no-brainer as far as I am concerned.

When I first got the M140i (and started using V-Power), the price premium in the local Shell over 95RON was 7ppl. It's 15p today! I would be amazed if they weren't selling considerably less of it as a result, particularly when there's a Tesco within reasonable distance of a site. In my case, there is less than half a mile between the two.

given that I exclusively buy tesco momentum I should probably get a clubcard lol.

V Power is extremely expensive but so is BP ultimate and really if you're on a motorway journey or you live in the middle of nowhere without a tesco then you have to pay the premium!

Momentum is usually 1.31 at the moment which is 5p more than standard petrol. I think thats fine.

I have also stopped using v power since last month as it's £1.459 compared to £1.309 for momentum. Also clubcard is better value than shell card and no difference in performance.

I paid 2.05 in Italy last week. And CHF2.20 in Switzerland.

Suddenly paying £1.41 for V-Power is less of an issue.

Anyone ever seen a scientific test between V-Power and Tesco Momentum 99? I seem to remember when it came out (about the same time as premium fuels went from 98 to 97), it was stated that it wasn't as quality an alternative?

I'm being bombarded with messages and ads from shell on my l/top,they are getting upset at why I'm not using their shell v power ULD.Truth is I think the special ingredients claimed by shell are imaginary and they are keeping it a secret to twist us into thinking that it will do harm not to use it, total poppycock marketing by them.

Agreed. I use a blend of Morrisons finest unleaded and 2 stroke oil with a dash of TVO. Car goes like a cat with a banger up its arse.

Yes, V-Power is v expensive but they have to be straight as hell with their claims, as they would be in deep st with advertising standards, trading standards and any big press noise as a result, which would harm the precious sales!

Just like the whole car industry did with emissions ?? It’s expensive to pay for all the advertising .
