In my idle moments like most gear heads I like to watch various car related YouTube channels, some of the more famous ones like Shmee150, Seen Through Glass and Supercars of London have hundreds of thousands of subscribers.

But what bugs me about those guys is their complete inability to raise their game to a level that appeals to anyone over 13 years old. I have never seen Shmee say any bad or negative about any car he has ever driven ever!!

So the question I am asking is, can you direct me to a non professional You Tube car channel where the presenter deserves move recognition for doing a great job?

To get you started I would like to recommend https://www.youtube.com/user/RecombuCars/videos or RecombuCars. This guy has style, wit and a great presentation style plus the film work is a notch about most of the rubbish you see. Check out his review of a Porsche Targa https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yp8V4i42h4M and his very funny take on a Jaguar F Type V6 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx8knHqpeSA

Really enjoyed those, glad you mentioned those. This is what new Top Gear should be doing, taking youtube stars that love cars and giving them a bigger platform and budget to see what they can do.

This guy is a lot calmer and more measured about cars

https://www.youtube.com/user/DedicationBlog

This guy is sodding rich but still manages to have a genuine knowledge of cars and excitement without screaming like a child.

Rory Reid on Recombu cars is the Top Gear of YouTube...maybe with even more wit.

From a pure detailed, enthusiastic and technical point of view Autogefuhl is really good. He's a very unbiased German car enthusiast with excellent material and contacts. https://youtu.be/Ti6ulZK8Qyo

I like Bob Flavin from Ireland. He's not very slick but just seems to enjoy his job.

In the video below he reviews the new Mustang and there's a nice moment from around 5:50.

Xcar is good. GT Board is just amazing with all the supercars. /Drive is another.

I use to watch Supercars of London but it got very boring very fast. Seen through glass just seems like a stuck up snob. Shemee is decent enough. His 911 video was good.
Now saying all that, I am 32 years old so probably not in their target audience. Seems to be for teenagers.

I'll have to have a proper watch of Recombu videos later. And yeah, Bob Flavin he does generally seem to be enjoying what he's doing.

Well, regular car reviews, I've been subscribed to them from quite early on (It must be 2 years or so, first one I saw was the fiat 500). But its probably an acquired taste. New review every Monday.

https://www.youtube.com/user/RegularCars

Hubnut is good if you like older, weirder stuff (think petrol blog or retro rides, quite a bit of Citroën on there).

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfxlBQnvNXX6o-2Kb...

CarambleTV, older hot hatches (Clio 182, 205 gti etc) good videos, but only updates now and then.

https://www.youtube.com/user/CarambleTV

peugeotCitroen2CV, yeah if you have a older french car, definitely check this out. Good diy videos, tells you how to fix stuff and it's easy to follow.

https://www.youtube.com/user/peugeotCitroen2CV

Davide Cironi, Italian fella (and in Italian, but with english subs). Has stuff about older Italian cars like the uno turbo or the GTV6.

https://www.youtube.com/user/davidecironi

Marek Drives, a new car review every Friday, and yeah I just like his reviews.

https://www.youtube.com/user/GarazOtwarty

2stroketurbo, lots of microcars, and european stuff in the USA.

https://www.youtube.com/user/2stroketurbo

coldwarmotors, mainly for there lada review, and mini stuff.

https://www.youtube.com/user/coldwarmotors

First car, well its for new drivers (so many supermini's, city cars etc) but he does remind me of a young Clarkson.

https://www.youtube.com/user/FirstCarUK

MegaRetr, uploads a hell of a lot. However, if you interested in a certain car it's great, because he shows it in great detail. Plus it has Russian stuff we don't get here.

https://www.youtube.com/user/MegaRetr

Autoblog, a dutch channel (with english subs) second hand buyers guides on loads of cars.

https://www.youtube.com/user/autoblogger

I think Car Throttle, Mighty Car Mods, Carbuyer, etc are already pretty well known.

Generally, any page that is "Supercars of X" or any other variety of "supercar spotter". When you think about it, most channels out there really don't offer anything useful or suitably different to warrant one's attention.

Always thought https://www.youtube.com/user/EngineeringExplained as a great channel though.

Of the guys I have watched I think he is the one that could most likely transition to TV with the least effort, a production company needs to pick him up

I have wasted a lot of time on youtube (read, a lot a lot!), but my all time favourite channel on there is one I only found a month or so ago

Speed Academy
https://www.youtube.com/user/spdacademy/videos

How to rebuild an SR20: check
F20C (Honda S2000) ITB install: check
Building a Targa Newfoundland podium finishing FRS (gt86) from shell to alignment et al: check

Absolutely brilliant camera work and presenting as well, these guys deserve way more credit than they get!

Regular Car Reviews are SOOO FAUNCYY (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMJSy3TAyJ4)
They're like the how to basic of car reviews.

I actually love watching "That Dude In Blue". Seems a bit teeny at first, but his excitement for the cars he drives is toxic, and he finds some pretty epic cars to drive.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvLaRcvwQq4RCX-ER...

MrJWW is good if you want a slightly more grown up Supercars of London / Shmee channel. Mega rich, loads of supercars but refreshingly down to earth.

Yeah, I like him too. I like that he doesn't focus on negative things too much. Most reviews these days just seem to say what's bad about a car rather than what's good.

What about Youtubers who do entertaining mechanics videos?
Some people hate Scotty Kilmer but i find his vids really interesting and not too long and boring. Anyone else like him around?

Just spent the weekend watching a series by 'Tom's Turbo Garage', doing a ls3 V8 install into an MX5/Miata.

Really nicely done, loads of detail and enthusiasm, and engaging to watch.

He's just posted an episode showing the 'post run in' performance, and it's compelling! Now to raid the back of the sofa...
