What the hell are these monstrosities? Had a vehicle behind tonight (Pug 207) that had the most horrible lights fitted. They were piercingly bright, seemed to cut into my eyes and had a glaring blue tint to them.

They surely can't be legal as they were worse than full beam and were dipped.

What sort of muppet fits this st to their car?

Oh yes, I did pop the central mirror to its dimmed setting, but the lights still glared at me through the wing mirrors. It was like I was stuck in a spot light trying to escape from a mental institution.

Surely you've been around here long enough to know the answer?!

More than likely non-oem hid kits 5000k, 6300k or greater. Note 4300k iirc is oem.

I guessed they were HID, but it was like they were on steroids.

Really, really bright. Far more instense than any kit I have seen in the past.

LED's perhaps?

I've got bixenons from retrofitsource in both of my cars, they're bloody brilliant (sic) in a headlight race.

The car that is the choice of the chav.

I know there are owners that aren't chavs, but loads of them seem to be covered in stty plastic parts, seem lowered far too much and driven by people who have one hand on top of the steering wheel whilst leaning over the gear knob.

Proper LED's have a distinct shape don't they? These things seemed to blur the whole light fitting.

Do they also have the seat back at a rakish angle?

I've seen heads tapping the rear window, so yes. smile

The mark 4's seem to be heavily bastardised now too.

The older Audi TT's are getting it now too. There is a ruined one in my local town with a 'because Audi' sticker in the window.

I suspect I saw similar this morning. Miserable drive down the M4 in drizzle and I spotted a car in my rear view that had lights that almost looked like blue police lights at first glance. Very bright and with a very strong blue time to them. I don't think I've seen lights quite like them before.

As everyone else has already said, usually horrid Chinese HID kits, and usually fitted to non-projector headlights, so they scatter light everywhere and glare everyone to ste.

I'm amazed the fanboys of these kits haven't arrived to say that their kit doesn't dazzle and they need them because the standard lights are soooo bad they are dangerous. Some have to drive down country roads, shock horror, where there are no streetlights and big nasty ditches and rocks.

Yeah, as everyone else has said it'll just have been a badly fitted HID kit, probably at something like 8000K because racecar.

That said, OEM LED headlamps, whilst not dazzling, can sometimes appear very blue in colour. IIRC they're 5500K opposed to the 4300K of xenons.

I'm certainly not a fan of the after-market kits, but I've never found them to dazzle any worse than OEM HiDs. It tends to be the OEM HiDs on SUVs which I find most dazzling; after-market ones on normal cars are usually fine.

So that's what these dreadful fking things are! I was followed by some suv thingy fitted with these on Friday night and besides being blinded, I kept thinking it was the bloody Rozzers trying to pull me over as the blue light kpet twinkling in my mirror.
