VW Dealer PCP Finance - Pay off early but keep free service?
Discussion
Love what he's done. Proper old school car selling there!
Add on the paint protection and warranty, then a discount line. He gets paid commission on the whole lot
You're not getting anything free, that discount is what his boss has allowed him to do, but he's not likely to give you the discount without the add ons really.
Annoys me that salesmen still do this, makes us all look like Cowboys!

He did actually give me a choice of gap insurance, the extra year warranty, the diamondbrite, and this other scratch protection plan - from which he let me choose 2 that he would throw in for free. He did say that the gap insurance would ensure I get what I paid for in the event of a write off.
I'm pretty sure that most extras are cheaper when bought away from the dealer.Return to invoice gap insurance will mean that if the car is written off in the first x amount of years you will get the invoice value back. Your normal insurer pay market value and the gap company top it up to the invoice amount.
Be wary of the dealer's offer of freebies. It's as if they are saying one thing is free, but you need to pay more for an admin fee.

Check the paperwork but we did exactly that on a Skoda Fabia. Took out VW Finance PCP with the maximum deposit, got the finance contribution, 5 year warranty and 3 years servicing.....then settled the finance in full the day after the first payment. Cost £26 in the interest.
I did that also with Audi. RammyMP said:

I did that also with Audi. With both VW and Land Rover.

Exactly what I did.
I didn't want to finance the cars but was encouraged to by the dealership (DP in the case of the LR) who told me to cancel immediately.
With LR, they didn't even have the details on their system when we first called as it was so soon.
Free money isn't offered very often.

It is a used (63 plate) tiguan btw.
I know it's an R-Line, but what's the rest of the spec - is it a 140 or 177, DSG, 4Motion? Is it late 2013 or early 2014? Anything chunky in the spec like leather or panoramic roof? The headline price of £21K seems there or thereabouts as a "list" price - although newer ones don't seem much dearer. However I'd be expecting a hefty discount - especially since the emissions announcement.
When we bought ours I thought used Tiguan price were insane, so bought a new one. We got a new (in Sept 15) Match 150 DSG 4Motion for £25K and that included around a grand of bits and pieces. List was just over £30K.

34,361 miles. It's the spec that's got me it has everything even that auto reverse/parallel parking!
For a car just over 2yrs old that's not exactly low mileage. The parking thing is standard on the all. It's a gimmick and not sensibly usable in practice unless there's no other traffic around.

If you settle (rather than withdraw) then you pay the Acceptance and Settlement fees too - although I noticed recently that the latest VW new offers had the Acceptance fee at £0 and the Settlement as £10. They used to total a couple of hundred. Maybe they've done that to try and discourage people from withdrawing immediately hoping they'll just carry on paying the monthly.

Why not shop around? Have a good look and see if anything else out there is better and cheaper. You said you couldn't find another vehicle with the spec, but how far did you look?
The only way you can really get a good idea of price etc is to take a look at other examples and do the sums.

It's a 2013 Tiguan R line 177ps DSG 4 motion with full leather and heated seats and reverse camera.
I couldn't find the same car that came with all the features as well as full leather/heated seats for £21k.
Fair enough - it would be the cheapest on the VW Used search using that spec (without the camera), and there isn't much choice until you get to nearly-new.I couldn't find the same car that came with all the features as well as full leather/heated seats for £21k.
I do notice that the same situation is in place as when we get ours - as you move to newer cars there's plenty getting towards £30K, which is just bonkers as a brand new one would be cheaper. And the latest R-Line Edition has leather standard now.
I just couldn't understand who would buy the nearly new ones - they should be under £25K so yours should be something like high teens. But you have to work with the real world.
