No problem with it having a recall.
It will be done, it doesn't mean the car will blow up.
Able to give you some leverage though!
From what I'm reading the "fix" could impact performance, economy and resale value. It will be done, it doesn't mean the car will blow up.
Able to give you some leverage though!
This has given the right shakes and I feel inclined to call them and withdraw from the deal.

If its of interest my wife has a Tiguan 4Motion 150 DSG on lease for £212pm
You've missed something off that deal, ie a massive deposit, and/or VAT - I tried to get a 2WD manual but there were none immediately available when I needed the car but even they were dearer than that as an average monthly cost. I bought the spec you list as lease was coming out over £300/mth.valiant said:
I would have thought most of the diesel VWs on the forecourt would be on the emission hit list and due for a recall.
I'd have thought so too, not to mention the Derby dealership was rammed yesterday with people testing a range of golf diesels.I dunno, maybe I'm overreacting but I certainly feel uneasy about this coming from a squeaky clean BMW 320d which absolutely loves the motorway lol.

I'd have thought so too, not to mention the Derby dealership was rammed yesterday with people testing a range of golf diesels. The technical aspects of the issue don't concern me at all, indeed allegedly our car isn't affected as it's a new EU6 engine, but I do expect residual values to be impacted. I just don't know by how much.
Taken a bit of digging but this looks reassuring: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-34505593
In particular: "Paul Willis, UK managing director, said that cars fitted with the 1.6L diesel engine would need the physical remedy.
Those with the larger 2L engine would only need a software fix, he told the Commons Transport select committee."
And taken from VW Vin checking website:
"What kind of technical service measures will be taken?
We have now developed solutions for 1.2, 1.6 and 2.0 litre diesel engines affected by the NOx emissions testing issue. In the case of the 1.2 and 2.0 litre engines the solution involves software only and it is expected that the pure labour time for this software update should take around half an hour. "

You know another thing I want to ask is, if I settle early will VW finance try and reclaim the dealers' deposit contribution from me?
You have a legal right to "withdraw" within 14 days of signing the finance document. That is different from "settling" after one or more payments have been made. Now, if your VW Finance small print is the same as the VW Finance document in front of me right now, there is nothing in there that says you must repay the deposit contribution.
If you want the car, tell them you do NOT want paint protection (waste of money). GAP policy - get it online (lots of providers). Sign the finance docs, drive away, then ring up VW Finance the next day and settle with your debit card. There is no need to wait until after "x" instalments at all, just withdraw within 14 days.

Read the last page of the thread.
It's on your invoice but then a discount has been applied.
Sure it's applied, at £349 as well as 3rd year warranty for £399 - but there's a discount for £748 coming (£648) on that invoice but have been assured it's £748 by finance manager. It's on your invoice but then a discount has been applied.

Re: withdrawing from the credit agreement am I right in saying that withdrawing doesn't affect my credit rating?
Correct. It is as if the credit agreement never existed. As for your warranty and paint protection; what I meant was that you say "hmm....how about we forget the extended warranty and paint protection, and you just chip another £500 off the price?" Of course they may say no!

This is actually going to be my angle when I speak with the sales manager tomorrow. "You didn't tell me this car was affected and I had to find out by myself - you have betrayed the trust we established in the dealership and I am inclined to walk away unless you can put my concerns to bed"
Your move!
