Bored of my car, cheap hot hatch wanted! Ideas?

Civic Type R (if you can find one that has not been beat to within an inch of its life on a daily basis) or a Clio 182 (with your budget I would buy one that is due a cambelt job for less than £2k and then take it to one of the known specialists and spend the £500-£600 to have it done correctly)
Cupra would be interesting... I've looked into 330 and any in budget the mileage is almost 150k which is a bit much and the insurance will sting too much. The Saab I find boring before I've even started the engine even if it is a bit quicker than mine. Clio 182 is the current winner so far and the Type R's although rapid I don't like.
For that money, Civic Type R.
I had a 2003 pre facelift with 170k. No problems at all despite being abused daily, in a city centre. Only problem was high fuel consumption, but you put your foot down in a 1.2 punto and you'll get crap fuel economy.
Rattled like a tin of biscuits being thrown down a stairwell (maybe a slight exaggeration) but its a compromised car.

If the OP wasn't showing a lack of love for an EP3 Type R that's what I'd be suggesting, had mine about 6 months, it's a bit chavved up, bean can exhaust, lowered, Evo rims, etc but it's a laugh to drive, and dependant on conditions it can be quicker point to point than my TVR. And because everyone expects you to drive like a nob in it it's hard not to.
Massively practical, 200ish bhp and although driven like I've stolen it most times, very little has broke, not bad for a £2k car.
And I've already got 2 people in my social circles asking for the nod when I want to sell it, but if you can't get your head around the image then it's a none starter.
