When I went to junior school one of the fathers had a Caterham Super 7, and from that day I've always wanted one. It'll probably be an unfulfilled dream though. There is another car that I've wanted for a long time:-

Promise not to laugh?

A 2CV.......

First car I really wanted, a big boy on the estate had one...

Then when I was about 10 my dad took me to a classic car show and I fell in love with this...

Then from 12 onwards it was all Porsche...

The saddest thing now (I'd give a small limb to own any of them, except maybe the mexico) is that at points in my life they were possibly all attainable (not the 959) but their value has outstripped my current financial means and sense of adventure. There's a good chance I'll buy a speedster rep in the next couple of years.

A Triumph Stag. A friend of my dad's had one new in 1972. He let me sit in it and it was the first time I had operated electric Windows.

I have aspired to own one ever since. I can well afford one but there is almost a greater sense of desire to want one than own one. I can't explain that.

Straight-6 BMW - E34 Fits the bill nicely, have one of those.
Front-Engine Ferrari - Not really fussed.
Front-Engine Porsche - 928 is the dream, though i'd love a 924/944
Big Mercedes-Benz Barge - W124 Estate Auto would be lovely thanks
Small French Hatchback, 80s-90s - Doesn't have to be 'hot', Renault 5, 205 or early 106 will do nicely.

I'm lucky enough to have the car I wanted most. I still lust after a few though, but I need a lotto win to stand a chance.

BMW M1 (Grp 5)
Porsche 911 2.7RS
Porsche 912 (1966)
Porsche 356

Would have to be a Split Screen VW Camper of some kind, I would only buy one though if I was plenty comfy enough to own other cars and have more space, if I came into just enough money to buy one I wouldn't; as I am at the moment it would have to reside on the road as I don't have a garage or drive and doing so wouldn't be suitable for something like that.

E30 M3 is another one, as is a Delorean.

I have also always wanted to own a 911 since a kid, over the years the model changes but I would still love to own one some day.

For as long as I can remember this has been my dream car, if my lottery numbers come up, I'd buy one of these, not really 'wanted' to own anything else that has been out of my budget.

A 911 for me as well, since I was about 8

And a Land Rover series 2. Which I could afford right now, but cannot justify purchasing a car into which my hulky frame does not fit comfortably (hence my ownership of a Discovery instead).

Same story as above for a proper old Mini Cooper ever since I saw The Italian Job.

As has been said, a Ferrari F40 is the ultimate for me. Closely followed by any early 90's Honda NSX (I keep looking every day)

Always wanted a Type R. High revving N/A makes me wet smile Along with a Honda S2000.

Of the last two mentioned. I have one and I'm searching high and low for the perfect S2000 :P

Always wanted a Lotus Esprit.

The old Amiga game got me hooked at the age of 8. I can remember the morning of my birthday, my parents got me an Amiga 600 with Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 and Edd the Duck (!). I had a quick play before school and spent the longest day in school just wanting to go home and play Lotus again!

I very nearly swapped my old Fiat Punto in for an Elan (the FWD one), but common sense got the best of me.

I'd still love to get an Esprit one day, but my garage has the Caterham in it now and I really can't see me giving that space in for an Esprit.

From as far back as I can remember I wanted a 911... any 911... and I got one 8 years ago.

Since then, a Singer... from the 1st picture I ever saw of one I thought they were the most perfect thing I'd ever seen.

I wanted an Audi quattro for a long time, and sort of still do. I had a poster of a rally car for ages, though when "Fast Lane" tested the short wheelbase road car I wanted one of those instead. I went to see a lot of standard cars, sadly at the time where most of them had spent time with people who couldn't afford to look after them. One or two were very nice, but not quite nice enough. Now they seem to have gone up quite a bit, and the parts situation is concerning - I've already got two cars it's difficult to get parts for, and it seems daft to get another.

This.

Since I was 6 years old its all I have ever wanted. Frustratingly prices won't stop going up! frown

This is my dream car, doubt I'll ever get to own in now but I might be able to squeeze into one of it's descendants or one of it's competitors

I have wanted one of these since my first play through of Gran Turismo, I now own a GTST and I'm happy to report it is a case of "meet your hero's", I enjoy every moment in it.

One of these, thanks to a pack of World Class Cars Top Trumps cards. From the mid-to-late 1970's.

Edited to add - these!
