What car(s) have you wanted to own for the longest time?
Discussion
As a kid in the late 60's, seeing (and hearing) a Cobra barrelling along the road near the old AC factory in Thames Ditton one summer's afternoon has meant the yearning for a Cobra will be there forever....later cemented by seeing Gunball Rally in the cinema half a decade or so later, but, that boat has well and truly sailed financially speaking.....
So that leaves the impression left by watching another film in the cinema as a young teen around the same time.....American Graffiti, and the subsequent yearning for a 32 Ford hot rod. Seeing that film also defined my music taste for pretty much the rest of my life as well, so it's more than just a car thing, and now after 40 odd years, that 32 Ford dream is slowly coming together.....and with luck and a following wind (and the emptying of the savings account ) by the end of this year, I should be behind the wheel of my own 32 Ford hot rod

Jensen Interceptor
Alfa Romeo SZ
Delta Integrale
1968/69 Dodge Charger
Fiat Dino
Ferrari Testarossa
Sbarro Porsche-powered, rear-engined Mk1 Golf
Owning one of first 3 might be feasible (if not entirely sensible or practical) in a few years time; the 4th was a childhood idol until I saw one up close recently and saw it for the 50 year-old car it actually is and the last 3 shall remain out of reach unless I win a lottery.

That's a replica: http://www.beckspeedster.com/If time allows, I may build a recreation one day
No idea if they're still around but Martin and Walker used to make a right hand drive replica over here. I missed out on a red one in 2002ish with an Alfa boxer engine for £3,500! I've still got the issue of Which Kit? with the ad in...
I think if I could afford a real one I'd probably have a replica for 'daily' duties as well.

When I was young it was always the DeLorean - I have one of those (in bits, but whatever!) but from my years running up to getting a license it was:
993 Turbo (I managed a C2 but the turbo remains on the wish list, and probably will forever now)
Lamborghini - it went through the list, Countach, Diablo, Murci and now Aventador. They're mental and I'm so happy they continue to be so.
Aston Martin V8 Vantage (the 80s/90 variants). Now it's the V8V; again, just as I've gotten older, I love the newer stuff. I will own a 4.3 one day.
Lotus Esprit V8 Twin Turbo. Because wedge (and DeLorean)
I've never lusted over Ferrari's for some reason; I'd love one I'm sure, but for some reason I got it in my head that you're either a Porsche man, or a Ferrari man (or woman) and I went Porsche. I just love the things - each 911 is a joy; a really expensive joy I can't afford :P

I suppose this is a bit fantasy vs realistic possibility, the F40 is never going to happen like a night with Rachel Riley is highly unlikely, unless she has penchant for slightly tubby middle aged IT blokes whereas say a Jag XFR is more realistic, sort of akin to Claire from group accounts at the office Christmas party after too much of the table wine, still unlikely, but similarly appealing.
I am married though so that make that makes one impossible and the other significantly more difficult.

For the best part of 50 years i have wanted a Willys Jeep after seeing a local farmer come into town in his.
At Christmas I finally managed to get one, the downside being it is in bits after being stripped for restoration, the owner reluctantly realising he was not going to finish it.
I'm hoping to have it finished within a year, so I guess I'm still waiting really !

Sadly i've still never owned a V8, so something nice with one of those for me next.
Same for me, everyone now and then I look in the classifieds at the Monaro or similar cars then for various reasons decide not to do it. Its a scratch I am just going to have to build up on the brave pills for at some point and just do it. Maybe go balls deep and go for a V8 M3 or Maserati Gransport.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
