Hello to all, i`d like to pick a few brains if i may?
I`m looking at doing an engine transplant using the engine/gearbox from an s-type but i`m having an absolute nightmare with the wiring loom!

came accross this post while googling so thought id ask on here too,

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=138...

What id like to know is has anyone ran 1 on a standalone ecu? If so what was the setup like and what is the performance like compared to the standard ecu?

Thanks in advance, pete

Maybe better in the Jaguar section?

I know the engine quite well, but have never tried running it on a standalone ECU.

Let me guess though - you've got problems with the 2-position inlet cam timing and the variable tract length inlet manifold valves?

I think you might be better off changing the inlet manifold for ITBs, or keeping the Jaguar ECU.

Thanks chaps, not problems with the inlet at the moment, im currently trying to thin out the wiring harness and finding it a bit stressful to say the least!
I wanted to know about aftermarket ecus as a bit of a back up plan realy, ive read on the jag forum that the vvt can be locked out? (If ive interpreted it correctly)
Thanks for the advise I'll keep plugging away at it for now and do more research to try and keep my options open
