Bit of help,

I have a 03 plate Honda cbr600 fs2 also known as a f4i or f sport.

It needs a new manifold, so I'm looking for a stainless manifold and figured I should go the whole hog and get silencer as well.

Only issue is I can't find a system I like the look of, would like a shorter exhaust but not so short it looks like some kind of rice boy thing.

Can't really find one I like on eBay.

Anyone advise a good company / exhaust they know of ?

I have a short stubby stainless Scorpion exhaust on my F4i that looks pretty nice. I presume they do manifolds too

I have a regular length Scorpion can and link pipe for a CBR600F off my old bike - yours if you want to pay for postage, or collect...

They do full systems for tiny number of bikes, which doesn't include the CBR600.

OP, have you looked at Delkevic? They do a full system with a range of cans, including 350mm cans which are a nice compromise between the original drainpipe and the stupid looking stubby cans.

Right I'm going to ask something really daft now.

If I get for example the motard manifold,

Then an end can of another company, will I need to use the bit of exhaust between manifold and can? Or should I expect the manifold to get me to the can if you will.

I'm fairly sure they'll replicate the standard Honda set up for the CBR600 which is a one piece 'front bit' comprising of the 4 downpipes and the collector where they all meet up in either a 4 into 1 or 4 into 2 and then into 1. From that point on you bolt on the link pipe and silencer - either the standard stuff (already welded up into 1 piece) or aftermarket stuff which is generally in two separate bits as the only thing that is specific to each bike will be the link pipe and the can (short or otherwise) will be reasonably universal.

You could bolt a short silencer straight on the 'front bit' if you're desperate, do away with the link pipe and somehow support the can off the footrest bracket in an effort to look like a cheap race system on a 2006 R6 or a 2008 FireBlade. This would, in my opinion, look spectacularly shlte and due to not be appropriate for the fuelling as well as the cam and ignition timing make the bike run like a dog and sound nasty - not sweet, high pitched tuned and revvy, just nasty, horrible and loud. You can get an insight into what it'll sound like just by taking the standard silencer off and running it - amusing for about 5 seconds.

Btw. Motard is French for biker. Motad is exhaust manufacturer.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motad-Downpipes-and-Collector-to-fit-Honda-CBR600-FS-FS1E-PC35-2001-2003-/361486534037?hash=item542a46c595:g:vZ4AAOSwPYZU3p-h

Fully interchangeable for original, so it will go like this:
Downpipes/collector-->link pipe-->end can.
Fuel link pipes are made to work with original headers.

Cheaper option here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CBR600-FS1-FS3-Spo...

Should work the same way as motad downpipes.

I've had motad downpipes/fuel can on a cb500, now running just a can on tiger 800.
Can't fault Fuel cans, sounds really nice and costs quite a bit less than big name manufacturers.

It's not the same part if it doesn't fit the same pieces. But that said, the original Honda exhaust required a bloody big graphite ring to fit a large gap IIRC so it' not exactly precision engineering in the first place.

I have a Motad downpipe on my CBR600F4 (which I suspect is very similar to yours). It's fine but after 2 years it cracked. I've never been able to say for certain it was a result of a slow off on track not. It didn't take well to welding either.

Motad downpipes also have "balancer pipes" as per the Honda part, unlike a lot of cheap ones. I'd have one again at the right price.

How many times have you been able to re-use yours? Mines has been in and out so many times it now has the consistency of damp corn flakes but its still hanging on smile

I also agree on proper downpipes. I replaced mine with "Black Widow" something or other which didnt have the honda bit and now it goes flat around 5000rpm.

I think only twice on the old one (which could have been original), I replaced it a few years ago when I took the exhaust apart to be welded. Not touched it since.

It's a horribly engineered solution though. I don't care what anyone says. I also always struggled for a decent seal. My exhaust is about 20% Firegum!

Possibly, but I think the carb cbr which I have is more sensitive to such changes.
