Yes a friend was caught twice on the A30 near Bodmin, once one way and then the other. It is single lane at the moment though f that makes a difference. I wonder if they are too scared to fine everyone as it could cause anarchy , or they don't work much but don't want us to know.

stealing post it notes or pens from your office is a crime but you still do it and why? nobody gets hurt.

I was just on there, some guy passed me at 75. I have to say that I'm not too concerned with sticking to the speed limit, but I wouldn't do over 50 on the 40. I'd probably average out at 45. But lots of people don't seem to care. I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket on at stretch and a few do drive well over.It's much easier on the bike, no rear facing cameras and no plates on the front.

The innit bruv types, like the one in the white C Class with the illegally spaced registration plates tailgating people out of his way on the M65 tonight, where crash barriers are taking months to replace, will share cars around and no one will admit to being the driver at the time any offence took place. It will always have been someone who is no longer in the country.
The Audi secret is a digital speedometer that I find to be quite accurate against my satnav, so it's easy to sit bang on 50mph, or slightly over if you feel like pushing the boundaries, and cruise past people whose analogue speedometers are probably displaying the same speed as yours.
Been following this thread with interest, in a few weeks I make my annual jaunt from Aberdeen to London, onto Felixstowe and back via M6 and M74 et al.
Thank god for cc. Tell you what though, as you head back north it's so refreshing as the traffic thins out. How you guys drive daily around London etc I don't know. Think they would drive me insane.

A perfect example of being weak & responding to pressure from others rather than having the independence & confidence to make your own rules & judgements. One should NEVER allow others to influence your own behaviour, most of us left that thinking behind at school.

I got done on the M6 over Thelwall Viaduct a few years ago (must have been 8 or 9 years now). Midnight, Saturday, zero workers or traffic, but I wasn't concentrating obviously on the cameras. Think I got done for average of 58mph, which I thought was slightly unlucky!monthefish said:

More OT - pretty standard practice that I believe. My 1994 Alfa V6 was done the same way, components sorted into 3 tollerance "bands" so they get closer fits for the price of a bit of measuring.IME, as long as you keep it under 60 indicated, it'll be fine.
I can assure you that the average cameras are active, but looking at the fleet data I have, the lowest speed for them is 59mph.
A quick search of the average cameras data on the M1 that I can recall off the top of my head, would indicate they are all active from Leeds down to Toddington.
And we have easily 2-300 on file for the 3 months... I personally wouldn't risk it over an indicated 56-57.

I can't really tell from the NIP data that I have - it only shows the location between two junctions, but I know there are more than two cameras along the stretches above as I drive it a couple of times per week. Like many though, CC set at 55 and there is nothing to fear - safely pass those staring at a 50mph speedo needle, but still maintain a clean licence.I'm mindful of the ones that are illuminated at night, which are clearly (?) active, but assume that the others aren't, at least at night.
