Hi everyone,

I'm new here, would appreciate advice!

Basically the driver side window on my 987 not going down any more. I can hear the motor working and some strange sounds coming out but the window is stationary. When I close the door there is a slight movement of the window (where it's supposed to go all the way up), but that's pretty much it.

Described the symptoms over the phone, been told window regulator needs to be replaced. A few questions:

1) Is this indeed mostly due to window regulator? Does it have to be replaced as opposed to repairing/fixing?
2) Could this job have any negative effect on moisture resistance? Been told that inner panel needs to be replaced too in order to prevent moisture is that indeed necessary?
3) Any advice on a good specialist not very far from West London who could help me with this at a sensible price?

Many thanks!!

More than likely to be the regulator and a replacement is the only option. The membrane can be reused if you are careful when removing it, but ensure you remove all of the old sealant before applying new. The slightest gap when resealing will result in wet carpet on the base of the door.

Including the new panel, mine cost just under £500.

£470 (!) in total, very expensive.

Window Regulator and Door Membrane has been replaced.
Membrane is optional, only if worn out (which mine was).
