In the interest of disclosure I own a C6........
As for your ZR1, wasn't even that good in it's day, happy to leave it to the collectors.
Really? As for your ZR1, wasn't even that good in it's day, happy to leave it to the collectors.
It was one of the worlds fastest production cars, broke records and even got positive reviews from UK press.
Clearly a comment from someone that has not experienced a Lotus LT5 at full chat. A v8 in 1990 that could rev well over 7k coupled with a unique note that no other Corvette can come close to
I own a 2008 C6 Z06 and a 26 year 90 ZR1. The ZR1 will leave the Z06 for dead up to a ton - not bad for a 26 year old car. it is modded (530hp) but only mildly, you can get a reliable na 650hp out of an LT5 and the ZF box and drive line will take it.
I will always get out the ZR1 with a bigger grin than the Z06. The ZR1 is more of a drivers car - if I could drive both cars on a road trip, it would be the Z06 to the Alps and the ZR1 on the passes every time.
Anyway, for me the ZR1 looks better, being wider from mid door back.
The C4 had a galvanised steel chassis and aluminium rear sub frame. 90 on had a newer interior and lost the full digital dash. From memory it was also the first real production car with ABS (until then only a limited expensive Mercedes offered it). I read some where once that a huge chunk of the production cost of each car was just for the Bosch abs. Can't remember the figures unfortunately but it is quite staggering.
Very 80's but even today US car adverts are pretty good. Over here, they are not allowed to show speed, enjoyment or anything so our ads have all become rather dull or just plane odd

Jealous! I will have to head to the Bristol QS meets and have a proper look!
Thanks for posting that. The second and third photos (at that link) do an especially good job of bringing to life how low and flat the C4 is. Timeless qualities, really. And arguably less common in today's world of large-proportioned vehicles.Jealous! I will have to head to the Bristol QS meets and have a proper look!
I'll just embed the link again in case anybody needs a clickable version of it. Here it is.
