Bathroom costs
Discussion
Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for what budget I need?
I want to get a very small bathroom refurbished professionally. Keeping the layout the same.
New toilet basin and bath. Replace carpet with vinyl flooring. New power shower but retaining the 'stand in the bath while showering' configuration.
About 6 sq metres of tiling needing replacing or possible regrouting.
How much do I need to spend to get something that won't put off potential buyers or tenants?

Just going through the same myself.
By far the biggest cost is the plumber, followed by the tiler.
I could of course do the whole lot myself and save £4k in labor costs but I don't have time, and I want the job doing quickly.
All in I estimate the cost will be about £8k. And this is for what must be the smallest bathroom you can fit a standard size sink, bath and toilet in. Not that I'm bitter or anything.
Did I mention how expensive the plumber was?

Ive just completed my family bathroom which will not be used as we have ensuites, i think total cost was around £6000. Complete waste of money but had to be done, as the previous was dated. Thats tiles, toilet, bath, sink, shower, shower screen, taps, towel rad, downlights, re-plasterboard the walls then re-plaster then fit it all back together. It sounds so cheap and easy when you say itll only be a quick job swapping out the bathroom.
In the middle of having my en suite done at the moment and it's going to come out at about 4k. Same layout but no tiling, just storm wall for the shower. Whole room plastered which was finished today. Got everything from the bath store for £1200 which matches the main bathroom. I probably could have saved a few hundred on the suite but the rip out and installation costs would likely have been the same.
I've just done had mine done - it was about £8k, but I did choose expensive sink and shower cubicle. That included tiling the shower wall, mosaic tiles at the sink, ripping out and replacing and disposing of the old suite, moving a radiator and sink plumbing, boxing in pipework, underfloor electric heating, and floor tiles, plus some rewiring (downlights and a powered mirror over the sink).
I'm doing a 2 x 2 bathroom right now. Spent £1600 on 1700 x 700 shower tray, rain type shower thing with second head and new glasswear, toilet and sink units. About £700 for floor and wall tiles. Labour is coming in at £2750 for all the tiling and plumbing work which involves stripping out and removing existing sanitarywear, reboarding the walls before tiling, re-boarding ceiling and plastering, moving the shower pump to a new location and installing a new radiator in the front room that currently has none.

Thanks everyone. I was hoping for around £3k which looks as though it might just be feasible. But no point in skimping on the fittings when the labour cost is so significant.
I'd say it's feasible, some good suites in Screwfix for £300 - £400 for example http://www.screwfix.com/c/bathrooms-kitchens/bathr...
Have almost finished my bathroom refurb (just finishing touches to complete) and what I will say is do not skimp on the bath! if it will be used a lot then buy a steel bath!
I went for a 3.5mm Kaldewei Steel bath and there is no movement at all so no problems with it being used everyday.
