Been looking at tyres, 215/55/17. Nearly asleep looking at prices: Never heard of £60, Half Way decent £85, all usual mainstream premiums ( will buy) £100, Yoko (Oh, no!) £160.

Not sure where your prices are from but 80quid gets you a choice of Yoko ae50, uniroyal rainsport3,Conti premium Contact,Bridgestone re002 and more premium tyres if you look on Camskill.

I would imagine at £160 the OP was looking at something like Yokohama AD08R's or similar. In which case they're road legal track tyres basically, probably a bit overkill...

A road legal track tyre would be more like an A048. The AD08R sits in between road legal track tyres and high end summer tyres IMO. AD08R's even have a B wet grip rating!

They’re lethal in damp conditions, couldn’t wait to swap mine for Pilot Sports.
