Mid January I drove 7hrs from Glasgow to Swindon for a £170 banger
Last week I drove 6hrs to Leicester for a £650 Merc.

Would do it again no problem but mainly because I love motorway driving and long journeys. I factor the cost of the drives into the bangernomics.
.wow
Wasn't aware anyone enjoyed motorways!

I would go anywhere in the UK for the right car... Providing I have seen lots of pics, spoken to the seller and it's either better or cheaper than nearby alternatives to justify the travel time and cost.
This. It amazes me that people will not travel when spending thousands on a car, a day travelling in some cases can save you a fortune/get you a better car/more options.

I seem to have had a spate of selling vehicles that people will travel long distances for!

I sold a Land Rover 110 when I was living near Salisbury to someone who travelled from one of the scottish Islands for it.

Now I have moved to near Portsmouth, I sold a knackered mercedes vito that refused to start to someone from manchester who was convinced it was an easy fix and he would get it started and drive home, the 8 hr wait for an AA recovery truck told a different story.

Finally I had a disabled adapted fiat scudo that was a great little van that I bought because it had a ramp and I wanted to start doing motocross, plans changed so I sold it for £600 to someone who travelled up from devon on the train for it, got a nice message a couple of weeks later telling me how much he loves it!

I drove 4 hours each way to look at my 27,000 kilometre S2000. I then had a 7 hour train trip to pick it up a couple of days later.

When I sold my F2 Brabham there had been a few top cars sold with dud engines fitted. The bloke who bought it made a bit of a production of it.

He flew 600 miles to watch it race, to prove it was in top condition. He was happy when I broke the lap record & won the race.

He bought the car & its custom built trailer, provided I delivered it to his home that night, 600 miles away, with him in my tow car riding shotgun. I might have been insulted, if he hadn't paid top dollar.
