Had a citroen of some kind last time we were there, horrible car and there is no way I would consider doing an Initial D with the road drains...

Went around corners surprisingly well providing you didn't ask it to change line.

There was the odd BMW about and a lovely restored Alfa Spider at one seaside town.

when I went to Kavos back in 2003 I remember seeing a escort xr3i convertible on British plates, must have driven all the way.

An odd place to drive - a small island with not a great deal of road. Motorway along the S, impressive hairpin narrow road up the W - with amazing scenery, scanty fairly fast (and often busy) roads over the centre near Teide (c/w top pro cycling teams). I didn't get the feeling that it was the sort of place where you'd find exceptional cars.

There were only two of us and I'd booked a little car - I had been wondering which to buy as my runabout and given a choice at the airport I took up the offer of a Fiat 500 - what a terrible car - the model, I expect, not the specific 5000km one I had!

Saw a very nice BMW 507 V8 there in January. Saw it going along one of the motorways and it looked immaculate. Sadly, I also saw it about 45 minutes later on the road out to Punta de Teno where a hired FIAT 500 had managed to drive straight into it. No one apparently hurt but a lot of painfully expensive bent metal. frown

I think there are quite a few nice classics on Tenerife but they only probably come out on holidays and are mainly in the North, not around the tourist areas in the South.

Have you seen the "Isle of... FERNANDOS!" Taxi driving about at all?

There are a few classics out there, usually "Ex-Pat" cars owned by "Sexy Beast" types. The rest are all banged up, but admittedly rust free.

I saw a 50cc scooter on British plates in Istanbul last year, now that's a journey.

Is that the one where the back doors have evidently been 'smashed in'?

There are some cracking twisty mountain roads but the fear of death and car hire excess charges calmed me down. We had a VW Up on hire and to be honest I wouldn't have fancied anything much bigger as passing buses on the twisted was tight.

I was also wondering if there are any nice cars in the Canaries. Fuerteventura seemed to have some great roads but I didn't see a single interesting car there.

The marina car park at Puerto colon had a Bentley continental and some very tasty big mercs parked up last year. Around del duque there's some nice stuff as well, particularly at night.
We had a Citroen Picasso.

We visit an Aunt near Alicante a couple of times a year, and over the last 8 years or so have rarely seen a car larger than a 3 series/C class, and can't remember seeing anything remotely classic or interesting.

Nearly all cars out there have parking dents and scrapes all over. They don't look after their cars like we do over here.
