If the insurance paid out enough to put you back in pretty much the same car how has it cost you a lot ?
Some hassle whilst being without a car and some forms to fill in.
It would have been nice for BMW UK to get in touch to say sorry and with perhaps a small goodwill gesture but you're acting as if you're entitled to a lot more.
You've read the story of the woman sueing for a lifetime supply of Kit Kat because the one she bought had no wafer in it ?
st happens, no one intends it to and most importantly I assume no one was hurt.

Where I come from 6 grand is a fair chunk of cash to lose between payout and what was owed in finance - perhaps you're richer than I Some hassle whilst being without a car and some forms to fill in.

But they've given you enough to replace the car with like for like.Does the finance need to he paid off ?
Genuinely interested as not a situation I'd considered.
Disgusting behaviour by BMW. Doesn't matter if nobody was hurt, the potential for serious injury or death is pretty evident and a car should not do this, although it does seem to be a common BMW trait that they go on fire.
I would have expected a rep visit at the least to show a sign of humanity and concern. But not even a letter tells you a lot about their business ethics and morals.

This is a bit of a surprise to me and apologies if I have missed some detail aspect of finance/ insurance arrangements. When I last changed my car with BMW I still had a small amount of finance on the old car. There was no problem rolling this up onto the replacement car transaction - or so they said! Perhaps there was a bit of jiggery pokery going on in the background which they didn't disclose to me?

That's quite naive IMO. I have a lot of sympathy for the OP but would be amazed if BMW got in direct contact or made any sort of good will gesture which would be taken as an admission of liability. There are certainly more of these incidents than one would like to see but it appears no more for BMW than any other brand.
Try searching car fire- Jaguar, RR, Mercedes. They all have issues.
