I called into yamaha dealer to have a quick look on wedensday to have a looksy as you do.
I wanted to look at a mt09 that i had planned to think about buying at the end of this year.
I saw a x demo tracer for 1.5k under list in red with 485 miles on the clock and although I didnt realy think anything of it, I went home and talked to the wife and give the man maths as you do

Well.... the wife turned round and said ...you have only been into bikes for 15 months... past your test 14 months ago and in time your on your 5th bike
Why do you need another bike when you bought a daytona less than 4 months ago

Well a touch of man maths and lots of drunken agrueing/huffing....... the wife said ok but this is the last for at least a couple years and the best bit....Here is 2.5k towards the deposit

So on thursday I went to buy said red 2015 red tracer with 485 miles on the clock and I arrive at 10am in the good morn and the bike is sold.

Bummer...what do I do I cant after all the huffing go home with no bike so i ask,,,What do you have in tracers for the same ungodly cheap price as the red one was
They said nothing....but wait...we have just less than 2 weeks ago reg a new demo...it has 45 miles on it and its matt grey but its 7.5k
Noooooo I dont have 7.5k i have 7k says I Wait 1 sec says he.....a lot more than 1 sec later and I have agreed to buy a 2 week old matt grey tacer with 45 miles on the clock for the grand total of 7.2k with 2 free services

Ask me am I proud.....maybe a little bit lol

Tomorrow is a nie overnight trip to donegal which should do the run in miles.

Shall post the pics tomorrow when its light and i get them onto the lappy smile

I really liked the Tracer when I tried it, light and flickable with a lovely engine.

I think it's a good choice but it would benefit from a better seat and some suspension upgrades, so I went with the Triumph Explorer instead.

5 bikes in 14 months is a lot! Did you have time to see if you actually liked any of them? I generally keep main bikes for 2-3 years, I think the shortest time I've owned a bike is about 18 months (compares to 4 months for a car) .

I really wanted to like both the mt-09 and the tracer. I test rode the mt-09 and totally loved the engine in A mode but the suspension was so cheap and pogo stick like it would need decent money thrown at it just to make it acceptable for me.

I loved the idea if the tracer esp as they supposedly addressed some of the mt-09 issues. Fuel tank size and suspension.

However when I sat on one at the dealer it simply just wouldn't work as a commuter bike, I'd need to take the hand guards off and then I'd still have to take it easy filtering.

Outside of London a tracer could work for me, good luck OP and enjoy your bike they are great value for money.

Ultimately I needed a triple with decent suspension, brakes and power so I just bought a speed triple smile

Filters fine with the handguards off, not sportsbike thin, but not worse than any other upright bike.

Does your wife run past you what she buys or did you have your testicles removed at birth?

I was chatting to my dad on the phone yesterday and he mentioned that he had just taken his friend up to Belfast to collect his new red Tracer. I wonder how many they sell in a week.

Echos my feelings. Also if you have big feet your heel hits the rear foot pegs when they are resting on the front, it drives me mad.

I find the bike fits me well, so well that I have planned on doing the round Ireland ironbutt in a couple weeks time with a few others.

I can see how it may not suit everyone but I dont think any bike could do that and for those the bike suits then its a great bike to do a few jobs. Its fast enough, playful enough and comfy enough to do well 95% of the time and ok the other 5%.
Average over 50mpg while playing and more when just cruising along. Will lift the front in 3rd gear and pulls from low revs all the way up the band. Light weight makes it flickable and the engine is a totaly unexpected livly little thing.

I do not notice the snatchyness that others have said on the mt09 but I have a 2016 model that that problem has been mapped out of I read. Tyres could be better but thats not a huge problem to fix.

Probably not for a t-shirt or a bottle of prosecco, however if she was spending £7,000 of our money, I'd want my missus to run it past me too!

Bit of a update now its oming up 3 months with the tracer.
Well its a great bike.
In its 1st week with me I broke it in by doing a IronButt challange and went right around Ireland in under 24 hours.
That was a nice 850 mile run + 65 extra getting to the start/finish point and home afterwards.
It has also taken me on a 4 day,1000 mile trip to Scotland.
The bike has been faultless in the 2900 miles in my ownership.

So far I have got a top box/rack for it, a rad cover, givi engine cage and the heated grips so I am sowly getting it were i want it but its a deffo keeper.
