Just past Badgers Mount, heading towards Bromley..

Brand new Mustang facing backwards at side of the road, stuck in trees. Front end caved in the rear not looking too healthy either - looked a nasty one...

Other cars were parked up to offer assistance, with no emergency vehicles at the scene yet. It must have just happened.

I hope it wasn't anyone on here? It looked like a stunner in bright red.

Also hope the occupants of it are well!

Probably the BSM demo as it it is only a mile from them.

Yeah I did think that, someone has had a bad day...

Wasn't from the roundabout, my guess would be that they booted it and lost control due to it being pretty slippy.

Slightly odd camber coming off that roundabout onto the dual carriageway, I seem to remember a chap on here's dad losing it there in a Boxster a few years back. I'm always a little bit careful there.

If it's Hewitts Roundabout, that's a nasty one. Was a passenger in a particularly bad crash there a few years ago. Always very cautious there.

Yeah, Hewitts roundabout, that's it.

Sounds like it's got a bit of a reputation then, just googled it to find a few incidents have taken place there.

Further down, where a side road (London Rd) joins onto the A21 is just as nuts. I've seen far too many near misses there to count.

Took the red demo out a couple of weeks ago, the BSM chap mentioned it was lively in the wet. Seemed a bit lax letting anyone loose in a 5 litre RWD with no questions on driving experience.

Ah damn, today was the result of that, coupled with the dodgy roundabout then.. frown

The issue with Hewitts roundabout is the appalling lane discipline.
The road numbers are clearly marked but few people take any notice of them.

That's the original line of the A21 before the D/C up to Hewitts was built.
Back in the day the D/C used to be NSL and it was even more dicey then.
It's now 50 westward from the roundabout - https://goo.gl/maps/Ju6Arhafavt - but people regularly exceed it along there.
The situation isn't helped by the restricted sightline at the junction - https://goo.gl/maps/2F33dWfPSNP2
Furthermore it is located just prior to the pinch point where the D/C reduces to one lane. A perfect storm.
I'm no fan of speed cameras but installing one shortly before that junction might actually prove beneficial.

I didn't know that was the original line of the A21, well it definitely hasn't calmed anything down around there.
As for lane discipline on Hewitts, I agree it's terrible. I've been carved up on the M25 exit there a couple of weeks ago.

That pinch point where it reduces to a single lane is trouble - you get people doing last second overtakes, or having spotted the car joining the A21 too late (Either because of speed, or as you say the poor visibility from that junction) swerves over to the right.

Infact, I even hate turning left into London Rd from the A21, especially when there's traffic. I've never trusted people not to realise that lane is for turning left only and not an overtaking opportunity. Coming to a standstill there is a nightmare.

Indeed, but I think you meant turning right. wink - https://goo.gl/maps/b3QBYSGebP92

A little clarification here. I'm at BSM right now having my van serviced and asked the question! It was the second of 5 test drives booked that day, nobody injured, and if I understood correctly, was being driven by Ford's own driver.
Someone took a risk booting a 5 litre muscle car off a roundabout in the wet!

I saw that on Saturday too, been checking the forums to see if anyone had posted anything.

Hope all involved are okay.

Internet rumour is he came up Square Hill and instead of going round the one way system he went to go into the access by the truck showroom.

It would explain why it is where it is on the road.
