I've been known to tailgate for short periods of time. Normally when people pull out into L3 (normally with a very last minute flash of the indicators as they hit the brakes as they approach a car in L2).

The only reason for it that I can see the lane in fron of them is clear and I come off cruise control and use engine braking rather than hitting my brakes

Lack of observation from those being overtaken seems to be part of the issue, as is the excuse of I'm overtaking the car that is 1 mile in front so I'll just stay in this lane (regardless of the fact there is a queue of traffic behind said individual)

^^^ I'll be honest, that doesn't make a lot of sense. Can you rephrase it as it looks like you're confusing inside and overtaking lanes?

I am a lone wolf, there are a few people I like but they are like me which is quite rare.

Then why even sign up to a message board? You can be a lone wolf and hate people while staying away from people by not conversing with people; if you feel the need to interact with "normies" then you're not being as honest with yourself as you think you are.

Inside lane = lane closest to Armco barrier separating opposite bound traffic. Referance to HGV's makes if pretty obvious to be honest..
thats what most (virtually all?) people call the outside lane.
I know it's kind of counter intuitive but makes more sense if you just think about the one carriageway that you're using, not the opposing one.

drive a Jazz...are you that tt that always overtakes me when accelerating zone out of a 40 to NSL but then continues to hold me up for several miles because must be in front of the Jazz syndrome?

BTW, classic Pistontt. I have to be places'. laugh
To be fair I do exactly that. Lets be honest here, 90% of the time that jazz/micra/yaris is not going to accelerate from 40, if you get the chance to pass it early on I wholeheartedly recommend taking it.
I drive a Jazz as well and do far more overtaking than getting overtaken. People should just keep left, most of the time I see people getting tailgated on motorways it's because they are holding up the traffic.

There's never an excuse for it, although people are seemingly trying to. It takes the #1 position on the poor driving list for me.

I do a ton of miles and this is getting silly now. I do not believe doing 95mph is the problem with so many accidents that are occuring on M ways its tailgaiting ,these drivers must be clueless on what can happen or get hypnotised with the back bumper?
Time after time the road is closed or down to one lane as half a dozen cars have shunted ,its beyond me why they do it.
Get out of the overtaking lane then you fanny. I do a good lot of driving and I drive faster than 99% of all road users as I have to be places; the fking bane of a typical day on the road is VERY POOR land discipline and UNDER ADHERENCE to national speed limits.. Always get the bd 99 year old Dorris in her Jazz/Spark doing 19 in a fking 30, on the motorway and some thick tw@ travelling at 65 in the OVERTAKING lane. Get out if the way you fking morons.

ETA - I NEVER get tail gated, does that tell you something??

Edited by MrFappyFappy on Saturday 13th February 23:33
I can count on one hand the number of times ive been properly 'scarily' tailgated - the most extreme example being a BMW up my arse in a 30, the road widened a bit and he overtook, the smell of clutch lingered in my car for about 5 mins. THat car was stolen I reckon.

I never ever get tailgated as I make good progress, and when im not, I fk off over to the left.
It aint difficult

Have you considered what happens when someone fails the Brake Test?

Have you considered what happens when someone fails the Brake Test?
Or considered what happens when you take an already dangerous situation and make it exponentially more dangerous?

That'll be me, overtaking someone doing 60. Is that not allowed?
Twig, with you 100%.

My bus is limited to 62 so when on a two lane motorway and i am passing a hypermiler, i have to spend a while in the overtaking lane. It also annoys a lot of fappyclones when travelling along the A329M where there is lane markings that make it in effect a two single lanes, on J10 of the M4 inside lane M4 only outside lane A329M only. Sorry pal but i am in the lane i have to be, but then you get them changing lanes to get around, fannyflapper could it be you? thus causing the amount of collisons that have occured, OR even worse staying in the M4 lane until the last moment and then doing a hard right over right ,as one chap did last week in fornt of me, Well 4.5ton of bus will at 62 will wipe out a car, hence the panic left hander and and driving along the hatched area waiting for a space to apper in the right hand lane. now that is a place for enforcement cameras for safety reasons

Smiler.

I had some classic examples of this last night driving up the M1 from London.

It wasn't like I was hanging about, so there was no excuse for it. And it was pissing down with rain, so it could have quite nasty, had I needed to suddenly stop.

Also, slightly off-topic, I know, but when did it become OK to pull out in front of people without indicating and then drive 20 mph below the speed limit while performing a brake check? rolleyes

Secondly the fact that we want to drive faster than them is our problem not theirs. You don't give orders to other drivers.
At the risk of being obvious - you can't make anyone go faster, but you can make everyone behind you go slower.
