Glad you got it sorted out OP. I've also had this happen to me recently, nice 4ft streak of red paint over my silver car complete with dents, thankfully that car was a total heap of st and it didn't bother me.

Watch your insurance company shaft you come renewal.

Not my insurance paying the claim, so shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I phoned them to inform them and they were surprisingly ambivalent.

Time will tell...

Usually they will still increase your premium. Especially after they ask you: 'have you been in an accident (fault or non-fault) in the last 5 years'.

Technically, I haven't had an accident. I wasn't even there wink

I will declare the incident all the same.

smile I may not have quoted the wording as well as they do to ensure as few of people as possible slither out of it.

Great result btw.

Great result OP, well done for pursuing it.

Don't be too surprised at a premium hike come renewal however, although I hope not. A non-fault claim has been made by you, your insurance company now have an excuse to squeeze you purely on a statistical basis. The rationale being that you are considered an "unlucky" client which raises your risk profile.

Unfortunately I'm with fausTVR but hopefully this can be mitigated by shopping about at renewal time.

All good now although the guy I spoke to from the insurance company stated the following...

"If the cost of the repair exceeds the market value of the car, an offer will be made to you for the market value of the car"

Should I be worried wink
