Nice!

Wife has one. Sport Nav in Black (top of the range in the UK Spec), Petrol manual, went for the 2WD as we couldnt justify the cost jumpe for the AWD.

Really is cracking bit of kit, handles well for its size, has a reasonable amount of go, gearbox is a gem (very precise with good feel) am told it is the the box from the MX5 not sure how true this is though.

Only things that let it down

19" rims, great for the looks and handling but do take some of the complaince out of the drivetrain and it can be a bit harsh over bumps, the one we test drive had the 16 or 17's and was much more supple. However 90% of the time it is fine and I am probably being over critical.

The centre console interior lighting colour doesnt match the binnacle i.e the climate crontrol dials and displays are orange, the rest is ice white. Again is hardly a deal breaker but you do look at it sometimes and wonder why they didnt match it up!

Great car,

40/20/40 split rear seat is cool and the release system for it is very clever. You get a huge load space when the seats are flat. Its pretty good on fuel too on a run, wife averages 32 around MK, 40+ on a long run.

Wait for the you should have got a saloon with bigger boot better ride looks better goes better cheaper brigade

I like the CX-5, seems underrated and inside seems very nice + well equipped for the price smile Certainly my pick of the "SUVs" atm

My Dad has done 90,000 miles in 3 years in a Sport Nav 2.2D AWD, and is planning on ordering an identical car when his lease is up.

The only complaints he has had over the 3 years are a dashboard rattle and a notchy second gear.

Ended up leasing an Audi A4 Avant in the end, but had we bought a family car this would have been it. Nice interior, good handling, positive shift, plenty of tech... The 150hp diesel was a revelation too. Seriosuly impressed me and still wonder if we should have bought one.

Had one as a company car. These are really well engineered and the nav sport and above have great kit as standard. Had a petrol as the diesel hadn't been launched- that would be the only thing I'd change as the petrol is pretty gutless low down and the skyactiv diesels rev really well for diesels and give great mpg.

Great looking cars. Was very tempted to get one as my new company car but it was quite a bit bigger than I needed, so went with a smaller Mazda instead.

These new Mazda engines are rather good.

In a word, they are brilliant. Particularly when buying cash because of good residuals not reflected on lease deals.
I don't like the seemingly aftermarket wheels of that particular example though, but can be brought back to normal, the smaller the better I guess.

I test drove one before we bought our Murano and I liked it but weirdly enough found the throttle and angle of the pedal really off putting like it was set up wrong.

I've got a 2015 2.2 Sport Nav, which I bought in July last year. Wasn't originally looking for a CX5 but when I drove it I was blown away by how good it was for the type of car. I work away in the week so have a long drive on a Friday and Sunday night, and it just eats up the miles in comfort. Great round town too, and brilliant on fuel. I'd struggle to know what to replace it with except for another one!

My sister has one and I'm insured on it. Took them to the airport last summer and had the car for 6 weeks. A little gutless, but understandable with the size weight of the thing. Pleasant enough otherwise. Superbly equipped with stop/start/climate/folding mirrors/front&rear reversing sensors/reversing camera/radar cruise etc. The only real negative is the size of the rear haunches which seem to stick out unnecessarily far and create big problems in small UK parking spaces.

Mazda seem to have a very attractive range at the moment. To me all their cars are easy on the eye, well equipped and keenly priced. And by all reports that I've read, the Sky Active engine lives up to it's promises.
Congrats on your purchase, I hope it's even better than you could have hoped for.

No, not really hehe

Cabin quality, NVH etc are leagues behind the Volvo - that doesnt mean the Mazda is bad, not at all... just no-where near as good as the XC.

I dont begrudge it that either - after all the difference in the new price was also huge.

I do like the BOSE stereo, keyless go and the dashboard arrangement in the CX-5. And those rear seats are good!
That was the similar case with the models I was looking at; S60 vs Mazda saloons. Volvo had an interior equal to ze Germans but the price and spec of Mazda could not be ignored.

I agree, they are really nice looking, it's just such a shame with the death of the RX-8 and the MPS versions of the 3 and 6 (and the slightly bonkers 2.3T CX-7) they no longer have any kind of performance model or even variant.

True, I suppose they've been concentrating on OP's CX-5 & the other SUV's they've introduced. Mazda need to get into the hybrid market, so can't see much development for MPS variants sadly. I wonder if we will hear more of their future rotary plans this year.

I've also gone from Volvo to Mazda and can't fault the Mazda at all. In fact, considering its bigger than the V70, its surprisingly nimble to twiddle around.

It might be a combination of age, size and spec, but I can't really tell any NVH difference. the V70 is a 2008 T6, so obviously has more grunt and AWD gives better traction, but the CX9 is 2012 and no slouch, and the interior is a nice place to be. Only real drawback at the mo is that the CX9 is FWD, which means 275bhp going through the front wheels of a 2100kg behemoth leads to short lived front tyres...

As for the CX5 - we only get autos over here, which means I'd probably look for something else before the CX5. They are everywhere though, so must be doing something right.
