IMO the most beautiful cars ever were produced in the 30s and 40s.

What do you think?

Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Viotti Coupé, 1932

Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Lungo by Touring, 1938

Talbot-Lago T26 Figoni cabriolet 1948

... I could go on.

Well, they're bloody well aren't now, that's for sure. I blame CAD myself. A modern take on an 'old' style. Bloody fantastic !!!

That looks like it's been chopped by Aaron at Gas monkey. Pretty cool none the less.

They had a bash at bringing this style back I'm with the Plymouth prowler. It's didn't do too well.

Personally I'm not a fan of this style.

Unfortunately not, safety rules make this sort of design impossible these days frown

What a stunning thing - and quite probably the real life car of the Ant Hill mob.

Saoutchik did some biblical stuff:

1949 Delahaye 175 S Roadster

1951 Talbot-Lago T-26 Grand Sport

Saoutchik Hispano-Suiza H6C Dubonnet Xenia Streamliner 1938

Another favorite coachbuilder are Figoni & Falaschi:

Delahaye 135 M Narval Cabriolet

1939 Delahaye Type 165 Cabriolet

T57 - never found back... Google: figoni falaschi bugatti < that stuff is NSFW!

Luverly stuff.

This is the Chip Foose designed Delahaye Bugnotti, inspired by the 1930's designs of Auburn, Delahaye and Bugatti.

I do, but I'm not a fan of the overly-streamlined ones. I can imagine some PH duffer of the day saying "Hah, cars these days are all starting to look the same". I prefer the earlier part of the era.

Gorgeous, but not very epic though. In objective terms, you'd swear a 1930 Kahn had got his hands on this Bugatti Royale. The chopped roof, mega stretched body and huge alloy wheels knocked up by a bloke on his lathe. Except for the crucial point, that they actually knew what they were doing.

Back then, if you were bored with the elephant-balancing-on-a-ball atop your radiator, you could even get away with having an illuminated naked girl there. I can just imagine what Kahn's interpretation of that would be. I don't think her knees would be together.
