20 years ago, it seems to me, that estates were the kind of car that were only for old people who had given up or families with dogs. Well that was the view anyway. But have things changed?

I'm thinking of buying one for skiing and le mans trips as I love them and I'm only 23!

Whilst I wouldn't go as far as saying 'most', but certainly a fair share of cars look better in estate form. The Audi A6 being one such example.

I like estates, but am yet to own one.

20 years ago you were 3, so no wonder you thought they were for old people. biggrin

I have always preferred the estate version of most cars.

This was available when you were one.....

As were these...

And these...

Does it matter what others think? Do you need an estate car? If yes, get one.

I'm 24 and drive a 320d touring, remapped, straight through pipes, tinted: awesome!

I like the multi functionality... I take my rents to the airport quite regularly, put all my mates gear in the back and bikes etc... Do it!

And people look at you funny when you burn it off at the lights... Or when drifting around roundabouts!

Love estate threads nearly as much as estates! Ever since trying to pat the dog through the guard in the back of my mum's Hillman Hunter they've been cool to me biggrin

Estates in my eyes have been cool since about 2005, perhaps because cos I had kids then or because they bought out the RS4

We used to argue about who got to ride in the boot when I was a kid.

They probably look at you 'funny' thinking what an utter bellend.

First Estate was a Focus Mk1 when we first had my son. Great, sensible practical car but a little boring.

Very happy with the current choice (looks better the saloon in my eyes)

Eta slightly better pic
