No worries, she'll be right.

I think Hamburg could also be somewhat 'knob drop off' territory...

An excellent read, really enjoyed it - favourite is the "dent in roof of a car below the balcony" story in Russia.laugh

If I can make some positive criticism, you write very well Rich, but are perhaps too brief? - just getting into a story and it goes to the punchline/conclusion too quickly. Maybe a bit more detail and build up? Cracking read mind and congrats on it!

This sounds like a good read.

Is there an e-version on Amazon that I can download to my phone?

I have an aversion to printed books nowadays and just find them too bulky to carry on the train where I do most of my reading.

Read it the day i got my PDF copy. I meant to come on and say how much i enjoyed the read and then forgot.

The two standout parts for me are the Welsh speaking Germans rofl and the horrible but darkly funny tale of the heart attack just before break time eek.

Basically a massive thumbup

Back in the day, the Leyland Sherpa was known as the "Shirker".

They weren't all bad though. Honest.

Vauxhall made a big thing of how it went through 3 quality checks before being delivered to the dealer. We had a showroom car and a demo delivered. One needed both sides painting and the other needed one side, the boot and the roof painting. Then the workshop did the pdi and drew up a long list of faults.

We put the V6 on as a demo and it sold quickly, but it was back even quicker as the oil pump failed which from memory was a 15 hour job to remove and replace. I think we sold half a dozen and they were all regular visitors to our workshop under warranty. I think we/Vauxhall ended up buying 2 of them back from disgruntled customers.

They did the rounds in the new Vectra showing the dealers the car before the demo and display models came through. One of the rechs broke the cupholder, he asked if they were changing its design before production and they said no. Sure enough we used to stock cupholders in the parts department as they broke easily. Mind you we stocked cylinder heads too as the cambelt rollers broke and made an awful mess of the top end. The workshop could have a car recovered in the mornibg and it could be done by tea time they did that many of them!
