Bought via Amazon.com, here in 2 days in the US which impressed me. Just finished it, well done, plenty of LOLs for me. I think the first chuckle was the Jaguars out in the rain, "body in ste"!

Though it's funny it is also a depressing exposé on how workers can really have zero pride in what they do and just not give a monkeys about the final product.

I have to apologise, I got the book and then totally forgot I'd got it.... I found it yesterday evening and started reading and finished it just now. What an awesome read, genuinely couldn't put it down! But now I'm left wanting more, so when the sequel is out I'm in, so to speak. smile

I thought the personal message was great, then a few pages in there was another that really made me smile! I'm Malcolm btw, not Keith.... Keep up the good work mate!

Bought and read on Thursday. Absolutely brilliant! Highlight for me was the two guys with prosthetic limbs and the spot welds...

My experience of working for a major manufacturer in an engineering context could be summarised as 'disappointing'. Unless you enjoy the idea of getting paid obscene amounts of money to turn up to work, aim to do as little as is possible, whilst being as nonconstructive as you can. In which case, I might have worked with you in the past.

It's a shame that the wasters from British Leyland probably just got jobs in another manufacturer, for them to inevitably cause the same damage there too.

Certainly sounds like you've had some great experiences, though! I've ordered a copy and look forward to reading.

Just finished. I keep mine in the downstairs khazi, so it's one chapter per visit. The 'errant pube in the fatherland' is one of the best. Better than the spotwelded feet.

TCF. Tell me to feck 'orf if you'd rather not say, but are you doing this for the sts and giggles, or is there actual profit in it by the time you've got it legally signed off, reviewed and printed?

I've always assumed there's no money in books unless you are J K Rowling, but always wanted to understand the commercials.

Started off as sts n giggles, but quickly got out of hand. I regularly write for a few mags, and do YouTube stuff, and now even a little bit of telly, but this book has been surprisingly profitable and very enjoyable. Happy to elaborate by email if you're interested.

I think we'd all love to hear it - but if you want to keep it to email then please copy me in! smile (duncan at duncanreid.consulting finds me) Writing a not-so-popular book is on my list of things to be done...

yes

I've always felt i had the makings of a really average fiction writer, mostly due to my ability to lie my way out of trouble combined with my love of sitting in front of a PC procrastinating.

I watched a programme about 70's Britain, and there was a clip of Jaguar bodies on a transporter, in primer, out in the snow, sleet and rain. They really were (gorgeous) garbage.

Just got home and have moved it to the throne room for perusal; the RV8 section has jogged the memory banks, IIRC I was told by the old salts at the time(circa '97) that the shell used as an example was crashed or otherwise on the piss, and as a result every RV8 was equally all over to one side like Jeremy. All this was(allegedly) established some time after the fact, when someone thought that using mobile CMM on legacy engineering was a good idea as opposed to a career move or politics. hehe

Read this while sat by the pool in Majorca, made the time pass really quickly, a great read and look forward to the next book, hopefully in time for my next holiday, which on past experiences will be in about 4 years time.
