Getting an M5 at 21 while a student?

Jesus. I leave this thread for a week and now the OP has added in the need for an estate for some airport runs about a never previously mentioned brother who works in the US. The guy is a serial bullstter, that's why people are getting ticked off with him. Like someone previously said I've never seen a post saying 'I'm 40, IT manager, live with my wife, my dad works on the moon so he gets me free holidays so I don't need to worry about that and I earn 2k a month. Can I afford an Enzo Ferrari???'.
I would go on, but I don't want the PC brigade to cry about a bit of realism.
BTW I'm 23, before people accuse me of being an old man having a dig!!
This made me laugh more than it should have. I would go on, but I don't want the PC brigade to cry about a bit of realism.

When did I say I'd proved anyone wrong???? Why are you misquoting me?
"Absolute fantasy land thinking you can get anything near £1500" "Suspicions confirmed"Sounds like you thought you were proving him wrong to me? It's not fantasy land, and your suspicions were not confirmed, as again confirmed by bradley^

I've been searching for insurance quotes recently for cars I'm looking to buy, so out of interest checked insurance on an M5 - £885 was the cheapest I found. I'm 21, 2 years NCB and a non-fault accident.
Shame I can't afford to run one otherwise I'd be starting my own 'BMW M5 at 21' thread.
Not disputing your quote but I find that really surprising.Shame I can't afford to run one otherwise I'd be starting my own 'BMW M5 at 21' thread.
I paid 1200 pounds TPFT on my 205 GTi at 22 and then had to pass up on the opportunity to buy an EP3 CTR/DC2 ITR at 24 due to insurance being 3000 pounds. Had some high quotes (over 1000 pounds) on my WRX at 30 too and one well-known insurer insisting I fit a Tracker on a 6 year old car.
Maybe insurance is getting cheaper or just more expensive on boring stuff and cheaper on high performance stuff?

They were, as per the quotes I got. Sounds like you thought you were proving him wrong to me? It's not fantasy land, and your suspicions were not confirmed, as again confirmed by bradley^
Other people said they found cheaper ones. Why is that considered "confirmed" whereas mine weren't? Perhaps you should do a quote.......
Was reading bits and pieces of this, seriously doubt the OP will ever get near a M5, he comes across them walter mitty types who just get the kicks from seeing peoples responses.
Mind you that 'cheap' quote would not surprise me too much as its Inverness, try getting it for London, even still it seems ridiculously cheap for a student on a M5.

Indeed, I think I referred to him as an attention we about 20 pages ago.Mind you that 'cheap' quote would not surprise me too much as its Inverness, try getting it for London, even still it seems ridiculously cheap for a student on a M5.
Fair play if he can get insurance for what he says, I'm not really sure why people consider it to be fact though. Still, I guess some folk just like to jump on what they want to hear.

I'm not sure why you think everybody who's said that a £1500-2000 insurance quote is possible or provided screenshots of one is a pathological liar. Here's a quote based on OP's "car of choice", for a 21-y/o student living at a random address about 15 miles from Inverness. That aside, I've assumed accidents/convictions/NCB are as good as they could be for a 21-year-old, and added a parent as a second driver.

Because it proves that those quotes are obtainable with the right postcode and named drivers. I don't need to run quotes as am 21 with a performance car so know how reasonable quotes can be.Other people said they found cheaper ones. Why is that considered "confirmed" whereas mine weren't? Someone on the internet said it, therefore it's proved. I see.330d = performance car
Are you really Slow?

Insurance can vary massively depending on the smallest of changes, perhaps I live in a much lower risk area than yourself?
I bought my Civic Type R at 20 and insured it for just under £900. Now I'm 21 and the same car would cost just under £600. I'm really surprised you couldn't insure one at 24.

I just remembered I have 10 dogs so need another estate car, what would you recommend? Maybe a transit ST on finance as 10 dogs might not fit in an estate car?

This was rural Wiltshire, so not that high risk really. It was back in 2004 though and the car was a 2001, so maybe hotter property at the time? I ended up with a 2003 MX5 instead, which cost me 800 pounds to insure. I could have got a Celica 190 though of similar vintage and performance as the Type-R and insured that for around 800 too.
