You went to pick up a broken down Rolls Royce in a broken down Range Rover. You really are not scared of bills are you?! I'm not sure whether to applaud your balls or pity your future pain. You bloody mad man biggrin

So... after all that bks you fed us a few months ago you have not bought an E60 M5. Shocking. Your poor brother is going to be stranded at the airport unless you quickly fix the RR!

Awesome. You are quite mad in a good way.

Prepare for bork factor 27 - though the owners club is very helpful as I understand it -- which you might need to lean on. wink

Brave man! Probably a mammoth project, but definitely applause-worthy.

You bought a Rolls Royce? Do we get to see the pictures?

In comparison the M5 wouldn't have been such a bad choice, but fair play to you, I admire your bravery or stupidity.

Story from what I understand is the guy has 5 of them and used/does run a wedding car business. Bought this one for interior bits for one of his cars but due to his being a shadow 2 they wouldn't fit so he just put them back in the car and never bothered to refit.

Has been sitting for 1-2 years since it last ran and about 7 years since its last Mot. If it is truly awful and will never get back on a road it can be parted out for more than I've paid so worth a shot I reckon.

Looks rust free compared to my last purchase. Luckily have a friend who welds for cheap.

So... bought unseen?

If it's reasonable mechanically and not too rotten are you just going to tidy it up, get it legal and run it - or are you planning a full restoration.

Weddings'R'US? hehe

Or, you could rat-rod it - matt black all the brightwork, paint it desert sand camo, lower it and make it unique.

What attracted you to the idea of a Rolls?

Its in Manchester, im in Inverness. I dont really buy my cars based on seeing them first as theres not alot interesting up here.

If its not too rotten my plan *may* be along the lines of rat-rod. Fairly open to suggestions other than restoring it as thats not really making it my own. The idea posted earlier of fitting a LS sounds very appealing but due to the brakes and suspension being run off the engine its not as easy. Then again if its to be lowered that would be air suspension anyway.

Simply I like being different to everyone my age. Since passing my test 4 years my most normal young lad car has been my first with a 1.8 diesel focus.

Since then ive had a 83 cherry turbo, 84 e30 323i, 87 defender 90 van, 95 730i and 2x Range Rover l322's.

Because who doesnt love seeing a old battered rolls (which will be a project at home and not on the road for quite a while) as a way to impress mates rather than a brand new financed Audi/BMW/Merc.
