There is no "new law".

SVA was introduced in 1998, and the points system has been in place since at least then.

exactly - for vehicles which are monocoques - hacking the shell about that much means it;s nigh on impossible ot escape classification as radically altered
So if its based on a chassis you can do whatever?

If so that means we can expect to see some Range Rover Sport pickups as they fall in price. Based on a disco 3 chassis tongue out

That Corvette is excellent. Looks like it came from the factory like that.

I'd love to convert one of these...

Has a tailgate as standard, so a pickup tailgate should be possible.

I had heard that these non Q plated, radically altered vehicles were now going to be picked up at MOT time and reported to DVLA.

Yeh, there's a lot of urban myths and unsubstantiated rumours floating around, about a lot of things.

no as the 'chassis' of the D3 and onwards and contemporary Range rover modeils is not the body on frame construction of the series - Defender and classic RR based vehicles or the P38 ...

That works because the roofline isn't too high ,unlike many others posted that look a little odd.

And, brilliantly, make the thing even less practical than it was in its natural state!

By coincidence I went to the place where this lives today, but it wasn't there.
