Is it about 909 miles? So an average speed of 72mph.

I think you'll have to be doing 130 on the motorway sections to achieve something like that.
478 miles from Lands End to the A90/M90 roundabout by Perth. You'd have to do that in six hours? That's an average of 80. Possible but not easy and you'd have to be bold when the opportunity rose.

It's then 235miles to JOG. Google says 4h54 but in the small hours, average speed cameras notwithstanding, I'd like to think you could take 30minutes at least out of that.

Then you'd need at least one diesel stop.

The big difficulty always would be tiredness and road closures or road works.

R129, I agree with you. I'm up and down there a lot and find it a lot better since the cameras were introduced. Would be ideal if they turned them off at night.

I feel like the only person in the world who thinks the A9 is better and faster since the speed cameras came in. They are only on the single carriageway stretches.
They might have been limited to the single carriageway sections last time you were up that way, but they're the whole length of the road now.

There shouldn't be any technical difficulty in doing 130-140 (but not averaging that much) between Exeter and Glasgow (maybe a bravery issue), but what is the range of the car at those speeds? a fuel stop takes 10 minutes at least including slowing for the services and getting back up to speed on the M-Way.

Lots of the A30 is potentially fast, but lots is not.

The highland portion is much quicker than google maps would have it, but I wouldn't expect an average of 72 is possible over those 235 miles. You'd have to have the spare time in the bag before you left the motorway, I would think.

Is it 'on'? Yes, if you have 2 drivers who don't care about the consequences of being caught at 140mph. Which would be extremely heavy, and even worse if they found out what you were up to.

£4,995 Jaguar XJ 4.2 XJ8 SE

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

Interesting MoT history indicating a decade of issues with the headlights and some muppetry with incorrect indicator lenses.

Steering wheel showing no signs of wear unlike the earlier posted Jag. Admittedly this has lower mileage.

Twice the price of the earlier one.
Are these that much better than the x308?
What kind of issues do they have

I'm getting budget creep now, could I stretch my 2k x300 budget to one of these?

I know the x300 will be the cheapest to run but has the x350 ironed out the x308s issues?

A/C too. And a period Blaupunkt.

What are the other button beside the gear stick - heated seats on a 190!? That could be a very, very nice car.

Jaguar's famous tightness WRT heated seats continues. Frustrating.

Maybe an E220 CDI would be better, albeit with the optional 80L fuel tank. A single fuel stop might then be possible. I'd say motorway cruising at 100 to 120mph would be the aim, otherwise range becomes an issue. I know from long hauls down to south west France that my 129's optimum cruising speed is 95mph.

I was on the A9 in early September and the dual sections definitely were not monitored by average speed cameras.

I sense a plan coming together. Now, who has access to a Lichtenstein- or Monaco-registered w212 E220 CDI with a long range fuel tank?

I like the leather

Apart from the obvious clocking, what could possibly go wrong... Why doesnt this flag up somewhere as being an issue? And why doesn't the dealer mention it?
Front passenger door and wing look to be different colours.
And why has some chump painted the centre of the front bumper black?
Very odd mileage in the MOT history. I am prepared to accept the June 2015 as a typo but there is strong evidence of an earlier 'haircut' but again from 80k miles to 70k odd miles so hardly seems worth it unless it did 100k miles that year.

Yes definitely look like heated seats. Never seen heated seats on a car with cloth before!

A race engineer would be useful, to work out whether a faster, juicier car is any faster than a slower one once you've fuelled it.

For the A30 and highlands, something that was quick between 50-120 would definitely save time over something slower, but would the juice penalty be worth it?

A couple of barrels in the boot, with a switchable electric pump straight into the filler neck would be useful. Though explaining that to Dibble would be somewhat difficult.

I don't think you'd need the actual car to be from Liechtenstein, just the plate? (!) (Not an actual plan. Definitely not)

Or an Audi A8 4.2 TDi. that's got some range on it too. Would probably have to be the 4.0 to fit in budget though.

Not sure what you mean.

Looks like one low mileage owner until 2006; then 15k a year until 2010.

After that, only a few k in 2011 - might be genuine, might not be - then no MoTs until April 2015, when it failed and lost 9k. So it could have been on paper MoTs only, and exported and reimported. But in that 3.5 year period it could easily have done 100k.

It then did a few more miles as an MoT failure and is now without MoT after a year - off the road due to accident damage?
