I'm allowed only one car at the Loser Conference and it has to be the 124.
Shocks on the 190; but you know the drill, tyres, ARB bushes, steering damper, steering idler arm bushes, front rear subframe mounts.
I can't wait to see the legend. Shocks on the 190; but you know the drill, tyres, ARB bushes, steering damper, steering idler arm bushes, front rear subframe mounts.
I just took the 190 out for a 20 miles drive and it does feel fantastically tight to drive. The r129 is now the worst of the three. Unsurprising as I have not started on that yet and the 190 is pretty low mileage.
The history of the 190 is immense. I should probably read it in more detail. At a glance the window regulators seem to have been done many times, and the ARB bushes were done recently. It was sold by the SL shop to the last owner a couple of years ago, so I wonder if they did anything as well. The tyres are relatively new michelins. It was waxoiled and then Dinitroled annually for about a decade straight before then, so hopefully it's good underneath. I've not looked yet (!).

I'm a long way from being a fan of the Bavarian breed, but the E39 is the only one I'd allow in the garage. The 540i and M5 are just stunning.
The 530i is better than the 540i for me, but I might yet have a 540i or more likely an Alpina version at some point just to make sure. ALthough if you're going down the V8 / automatic route and don't mind the less communicative V8 steering, and don't need it to be an estate, then a good E38 740i will always outpoint an E39 540i. I really like the sound of this 300-24 for some reason. £3,750 http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C737235

In 2014 I had the SL Shop do an independent health check. Bruce, the owner, sat me down to review with the words "We don't see many this healthy" which was very nice to hear. I will be very sad to see the car go, and thought about keeping it as a second car, but they thrive on regular use, and our drive is very crowded.
A bit scruffy and over-budget. Comfy looking rear seats though. Is this overpriced or about right? http://www2.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
I quite fancy a 443bhp 12 cylinder limo.

I'm sure you've mentioned it before, but which car are you bringing on Sunday Oa?
The 190. The SL decided not to progress this morning due to a flat battery. I had it recovered to my mechanic where I might just leave it!

Really like that - just the sort of thing I'm thinking about at the moment. Perhaps a little too wafty though? Current contenders - CLS500 / XF SV8. I quite fancy a 443bhp 12 cylinder limo.
£2.5k S Class, looks incredibly reasonable to me...

I recognised the backdrop to that Lexus GS430, and sure enough, it's at Camberley Motorhouse.
Their adverts walk and quack like a do-as-you-likey outfit. Does anyone know if that's the case? I've often been tempted to view a vehicle there, but usually a close-up inspection of the pictures reveals cars in very poor condition.
Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge/experience of the dealer?

That car is certainly not in great cosmetic condition: I can see a rusty scrape on one wheel arch, a large black scratch on a rear wing, a scuff on the side of the rear bumper, and another in the middle of the rear bumper. It wouldn't surprise me if you'd see a lot more in the flesh as well.
Lexus are very hit and miss on their cosmetics. That shape GS is an improvement on the older ones. Although if it were a dark coloured body the daft chrome trim around the grill and headlights would stand out too much. So they would need colour coding in that situation. Not sure about the inner lights either. Overall it looks ok-ish.
My favourite looking Lexus are either the old face lifted LS400 (where it got a bit softer looking), or the newer LS460, which is the best looking of the lot by far. I bet an LS460 would make one hell of a daily car, after some more depreciation. Anyone own one?

I followed through on my musings. My austerity measures, intended to shrink down to one car have had this result: 3 cars. Those of you who don’t like old Mercs (you incomprehensible beasts) should look away...
I'll be buying a one-way train ticket for early next week!
