The rapey bus is a more apt name.

There is no problem with derv in this thread per se. It's just big engined petrol are undesirable to the masses so fall faster in price, and you get more for your money with say a privately specified top end petrol 7 than the rep version diesel, which will have a lower spec and more miles despite the price being the same.

The answer to your question is a Volvo S80 BTW.
Thanks Croutons, Which of the S80 models would you recommend?

I hope that's your business card (with an offer written on it) on the windscreen...

2.4 SE Lux geartronic (or Executive if you can find one). Post 2006 update (the lights give it away) has a much improved interior. The 2.0 is not quick off the mark, but I find slightly more refined at speed, which should not be the case given it naturally has.to rev higher at the same speeds. I don't know if it just improved insulation or a.quieter block for.some.reason. You'll want cream leather, but with kids go for the black!

For shame sir, the 4.4 V8 petrol, shirley wink

...or if bombproof barging is required, the Series 1 S80 with the Euro 3 163bhp diesel can be had for absolute buttons, too.

Not when the OP's OP was about diesel! Besides too much Internet nonsense about that engine, it really ain't all that. S1 has a pretty "challenging" interior given how far they moved on over time...

I've loved it. It's more comfortable even than our new W126, particularly in the back. Fabulous to drive, annoying as hell to work on because there's no room in the engine bay, or anywhere else. More reliable than everybody expects, though. Mine will be up for sale by the weekend, if anybody here fancies a go... wink

I for one would love to see the advert when you have it posted

I'll get an eBay ad up later, but for now it's in the C6owners forum:

Hope this is ok? I don't think I'm allowed to post links to ads here - paperbag

Post-'06 was a completely revised model, rather than a facelift, but agreed!

The dead giveaway is the dash:

Coincidentally I found this really nice-looking C6 on the owner's forum, very similar to yours Jodyone?

I found this parked outside my Leeds office today. Crumbs it looked good. I can see 126 saloons taking off in the near future.

I have a really soft spot for these, would be a good compliment to my R129 for family duties.

Looking at the C6's service history I think you're pretty close to me. I'll have to keep an eye out for the C6 while you still have it.

It's actually in cornwall- I was working through the week in south wales, and commuting home to cornwall at the weekends (hence the miles!)

Another fan here. However, r129sl, I know for a fact that if you buy that your entrails will be scattered all over the North East by a disgruntled spouse.

That's a lovely w126. I've been enjoying the 190 today. With the 2.6 it really is a lovely mini barge for pottering about in. A colleague commented how smooth the engine is and how the ride is rather nice compared to his new German diesel rep mobile.

I just need a w126 and G wagon to have the full early 90s Merc range!

I was bored so I have booked the car on the ferry to Ireland at the end of the month. The first night I'm staying in Dublin but have no plans for the following 3 days. I like this kind of random trip!

Head West to the Wild Atlantic way and take in the cliffs of Moher. Epic scenery, I'm told: my wife did a road trip down there in our SL. She had some ground clearance issues though the 190 would be fine.

Eta. You could go the whole way around and depart via Belfast.
