If it was purely the ABC issue it'd be worth a punt, but from the description it sounds like it's generally been neglected.

Let's bet on what it will go for though - I think £2,956.

This is a brown saloon, but the link is for a white estate.

That is beautiful. What's going on with the N/S suspension turret, and the hole in the panel just below it? On the phone so can't add the pic but have a look, it looks like someone's had a party with a drill in there.

That looks gorgeous. The 200 is hella slow though. A 230 will keep up with normal traffic, but a 200 needs a very sedate approach to getting around. The 280 M110 is a peach, fast enough to be some fun and revvy, like the M103.

Sorted W123's handle nicely, I think, but I'm probably no judge. Mine on freshly rebuilt suspension is great fun to bomb around the local back roads in especially as the body is very tatty and untroubled by hedges. If you've driven a W126 they're much the same, the W123 is just lighter and noisier. The steering box is the biggest weakness in modern terms, but I find it no trouble to get accustomed to. I've not driven a W124 I'm afraid so cannot compare.

All those weird holes under the bonnet are normal, mine has them. Presumably for fixing other stuff, gawd knows what though. The big hole is the spring bed- access for the spring compressor!

Very late C215 Black on Black CL600 for an aggressive haggle from thread budget cloud9.

'Every time you try and operate these weird black controls that are labeled in black on a black background, a little black light lights up in black to let you know you’ve done it.’"

John, dot worry about my anonymity: this car may test your sanity!

Willow green metallic early 260E with green velours. Low mileage. No spec. Slightly insane price.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-Benz-E260-AUTOM...

Aah, that one again. I've seen it for sale privately twice over the last 2-3 years, I even enquired about it myself the 1st time. IIRC it went for around £1300 on Ebay last time, maybe a year ago?

Isn't it sad that I remember reg. nos. of just about every Willow Green pre-Sacco 124 that has come up for sale in the last 3-4 yrs!

Looks lovely, but the interior will be off-putting to many so I think £5k is v optimistic indeed.

If I was going to have 2 X early 260Es I'd have gone for the Daniel Curnock one in Smoke Silver with Brazil cloth, which went for £1600 on Ebay and turned up more or less immediately on CarandClassic for £2000. (Just your colours - and not too far from you either . . . )
Tenuous link time: our first family W124 was a lowly pre-Sacco 200 (non 'E' so as simple as they come) in Willow with contrasting cream/green cloth. Only extras were the metallic paint, front electric Windows and Blaupunkt stereo. Epically slow but was a car that absolutely set the quality standard from that point and highly likely why I enjoy this thread now around 30 years later.

Why are Lexus's so expensive to insure?

To put it into context, it would be more than that £800 Lexus cost for me to insure it, (interesting the insurance page provided an automatic value around £500).

It would also be cheaper to insure that Bi Turbo 500bhp V12 merc above as well than an LS430.

I would guess that most Lexus owners are grey hairs who tend to pull out at junctions without looking. Ever. Or reverse into parked cars. Hence Lexus must suffer huge amounts of claims.

Not sure if this is one for here or the Bargain Basement thread but all of the signals are there that this is a corker. I know people are rude about the 3.0 V8 but ultimately this looks like a truly lovely wafter.

Went for £1130 in the end. Bid it up to 1100 but some bugger had bid 1500. Wasn't worth the punt for me.

You're right, but only in the case of 10 year old S600's.
Most people buying them new have plenty of a slush fund.

I am currently selling my SL55 and have found this to be true of many potential buyers who ask questions about absolutely trivial sh*t without asking about the big stuff, for instance one chap was concerned about remaining tyre life (of which there is plenty) as "they are expensive" which is true but in terms of running such a car a triviality.

I wonder if instead of taking 'brave pills' many buyers take 'blind pills'....
