I was thinking more about the cars discussed on this thread than new ones!
Fair points. I think I went off on a tangent there... Lol.
To the Merc above, why is mileage in KM, but it's RHD and has UK (shape) plates on it.

This one also came up in the same Facebook group - cars for sale in Hampshire and Surrey - doesn't seem a bad price for a E34 530 touring?

That's the same car we had a couple of pages back. Looks okay from this distance (i.e. a couple of hundred miles, so pay no regard to my opinion of it)

This popped up on my local facebay - seems a cheap bargain for someone perhaps?

That looks good. Why in KMs though?

I would imagine most likely a Japanese import that's had the UK plate modification.

Here's the new XJR that arrived last week. Finally had a chance to do the bonding thing: interior clear, wash, cleanse, polish, clay and wax. Now I'm bloody knackered but it does look oh so shiny biggrin

Quite a chunk over thread budget but the 5-20 thread's practically dead these days.

Needs a couple of minor things sorting - temperamental central locking on the passenger door and a suspect rear wheel bearing, but apart from that it's in really nice condition. And of course it goes like stink!

I absolutely love it - it's the car I should have bought ages ago biggrin

If you don't mind me asking, roughly how much did you pay? I've got a suspicion that my Super V8 (XJR with a few extra options) is worth quite a bit more than I paid for it but it's hard to know for sure.

Lovely XJR. I noticed these looked almost sensible money now. Much nicer inside than my older shape XJR. Mind you, an acquaintance of mine had an engine let go on one of these. Cost £8k to sort apparently. Things that make you go hmmmm.

At £13k I certainly paid top money. I know there are ones out there a lot cheaper, but I wanted one that hadn't been to the moon and back and was feeling tired. It also enabled me to part-ex the Range Rover and Bentley, both of which needed some big money throwing at them. It's only done 63k miles and been well looked after - it was also local, and the way my work is at the moment traipsing all around the country looking at cars simply wasn't possible.

That's crazy , there must be a number of these cars in the breakers by now , I bought a 4.0 V8 and gearbox for £1000 a few years ago, isn't the block etc the same as the standard 4.2

That XJ-R looks fab. The only downside for me is that at £13K, its getting towards W211 E63AMG territory and that's where my cash would go, if I had that sort of budget.

No. The internals for the supercharged engine are stronger, and of course it's lower compression, so of necessity different pistons.

As I understand it the valvetrains are different too: the n/a engines have variable valve timing but the supercharged engines don't need it.

In that case, I think it'll be one of the last run-out models that were held for the Indian market (or even made there? Not sure), some of which seem to come back here and are characterised by very late registrations. I didn't know India was km/h.

That I didn't know! Not that it would have changed my decision though. As fine as the E63s are, I most definitely wanted an XJR. We have an LPG'd XJ6 Sport as our daily driver and I love it, to the point where I just wanted one that was newer, better condition, less tired and, of course, much, much quicker wink

Still, it would be nice if it had the exhaust note of the E63 as well!
