I see in that last one, the w202 C-Class, he has three quarters of a w140 dashboard in there, too.

Super looking/historied/serviced/low miled V70 on the bay of plenty. A smidge over thread max and 'only' the 140bhp lump, but just the ticket for comfortable wafting whilst taking the wardrobe to the beach.

It looks great, but isn't that optimistic pricing? I don't know Volvos, but I wouldn't have guessed a 10 year old basic one would get so much. Also looks like it's got a dodgy rear brake calliper..! I'm usually put off by tyre/under bonnet shine stuff too, but it does sound like he's been pretty fastidious, so I'll let him off

The hesitation on acceleration would worry me a bit, could be the loom. The state of the loom would be easy to check though.

Fantastic. I love the SLC, and I love 70s brown and velour. I'm glad it's a long way from me because otherwise I might have taken a punt on it, and these can be very expensive follies.
I love the look of these. Perhaps not brown though.
Always very tempted, but never do anything about it.

I'm not saying this is a good example (it may be) but on price alone this has to be something of a landmark for what is to my mind a great looking barge.

I wonder what horrors are hiding under that Black Wrap?
Dreadful wheels with rubber band tyres. Ugh.

Other than that, it's got some long standing, unresolved advisories.

I'm sure it's lovely smile

I know it's the derv, but sensible miles and an inspiring advert would make me look if I needed the economy...

Another cheap S600 biturbo: the seller sounds like a less than ideal character to buy a car from though, and I suspect sorting the rust and the airbag light would involve some serious wallet emptying.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-S600-BITURBO-20...

I don't see why an airbag light or minor rust would be significantly worse than any other car to be honest.
Airbags will be standard S class and body repairs are largely the same for any car (unless someone jacks them up 'because its an S class').
I'm with you entirely. An airbag light and a bit of surface rust is towards the bottom of priotites on this sort of car at this budget. I certainly don't think it makes the car a "shed".

I know that many of the guys on this thread are a little picky like their cars close to perfect but it is not happening with a bi turbo 600 even vaguely close to thread budget.

I remember the last time this was posted (also by you hehe ) and we discussed it had been through a repo auction. Pics are different this time but price roughly the same/

Oops missed that.

I fully agree - treat it as a rolling project that can destroy pretty much anything else in a straight line (in the dry!).

Something strange going on with the mileage in the MOTs too. Like their brother 211s, they are heavy on front suspension components, but it's neither that expensive or something you ignore - one to avoid for all sorts of reasons.

Were anyone to be tempted enough to do more than dream about this brown and velour-y piece of automotive beauty, I could forward the seller's mail and additional photos that appear to have arrived (unbidden, obviously) in my inbox.

Seller sounds legit, photos show small rust bubbles around the sunroof and below the rear screen, tatty driver's seat, and engine bay is a bit scruffy, but that aside it all seems to add up to me. Get it for around 4k and it's got to be a decent buy. My lack of space is the only thing deterring me.

I think we all know where this is going... wink

I was having a chat with a friend the other day, who has a thing for old Saabs- he said that if he suddenly came into money, he wouldn't buy any expensive cars, but would just accumulate £2K Saabs. I'd be the same, but would end up with a warehouse stuffed with slightly ratty old Mercs.
