As long as it was warmed up properly, my XJ12 (Series 3, for what's it's worth) used to give an easy 22/23.
Best bit was flicking the 'fuel tank change' button and it felt like you were getting free fuel as the gauge goes to the top again!

Those are standard wheels for a 540i SE, which is what that is. Very good they are too.

I'm quite pleased when I roll out my three cars and count 18 cylinders, 850 hp, 10.5 litres and only three exhaust outlets between them.
Ooh ooh ooh. New game.

Can't beat 3 exhausts, but I can offer 3 cars with:
12.9 litres
26 cylinders
908 bhp
6 exhausts.

We've had this before, years ago when I seem to remember it was more expensive. It should appeal to the lovers of all things Merc and all things, well, all things odd.

A 500 SL with cloth. Green cloth, at that.

Same photos as last time.

Barge update. Out of budget but my cl600 and e220 Cdi have been replaced with this;

2006 w211 e63 AMG with 35,000 miles. Doesn't really qualify for the thread but thought some may be interested!

I must admit, the appeal does escape me slightly...

Jag came back at the weekend. Since the diff failed about 2 years ago I've been really quite busy, so, it's had the diff replaced, a full repaint and the wheels are to be refurbed shortly. I should probably get the brake disks replaced as there's some wobble and the tyres really need to go at 8 years old but it's back, it works and it's bloody fast. Not sure how it'll feel with good tyres but right now it feel ludicrous.

Well done Nick, that looks fantastic. My SL55 seems to have sold today so 'your' CL600 will come to the fore as my main high days and holidays car.

Sitting at work, nursing a sore head. Think I might have just bought a W140. Thoughts on this?

Have you picked this up yet? Any more info?

Plenty of small touches, like the boot handle that pops out so your hand doesn't get dirty when you open and close it, then retracts when you shut the boot.

They say there is a first time for everything. Yesterday I ran out of petrol.

Barring Mad Max becoming the way of life, that will not happen again. It's probably the most embarrassed I've ever been!

Not sure what the thread thinks of these, but private seller so could possibly be haggled into thread budget. Pretty good colour combo to my eyes:

That looks absolutely fantastic to me - a distinctly anonymous way to employ 300bhp at will.

The colour and wheel/tyre combo are excellent - very w124 style.

Owner claims good condition and new tyres.
I really, really like this. The MOT history could be better but at £1,700, who cares? Spend the same again on running gear and you have the potential for a very nice car. Super practical, super discreet, super fast. If I wasn't so attached to my s124, I'd be thinking very seriously about it.
Tis a lovely beastie.

MPG is the only downside. My 535i saloon could not better early 20's even on long runs and averaged about 16-18. And that was according to the trip doodah. I expect this is a tad worse. Bit of a bummer on a car so ideal for road trips - *against the spirit of bargain barging my apologies!*
On a good motorway run of 100+ miles sitting at 75/80 I could get 32mpg in my 540i Sport smile Usually 23mpg like you say though around town/rural roads.
