Surely too cheap?

I can't post pictures but it's delightfully brown-tastic.

I may have to self-correct. The stains on the driver's seat look very much like bad brown.

That must have been a hell of a moment. Possibly the reason the car is now for sale smile

Hmmm. Cheap nasty tyres. The seller really knows how to present his cars which I don't like. It could have looked an absolute shed a few days ago.

The GS430 p/x auction a week back looked a better buy. Should have bought it.

That could very well be a massive bargain - the MOT history says it should have had some serious rust-removal work (which even low-miles cars are in need of most of the time). The rest of the components are pretty hardy, they should wear their miles well.

Feeling the need to vent. Just had my elderly neighbour at the door to tell me her husband has just bumped my car (r129). So went out to inspect it, Ffs he certainly has 'bumped' it. Dent and paint damage on the rear quarter including the bumper. They're a lovely old couple but when she said to me 'he doesn't see too well these days' I almost lost it. Thankfully it was a car and not a kid. Annoyed that it will be Monday before I can get it to the body shop for a quote, which I think will frighten them when they see it. Not a great start to the weekend!

It's just a car. We all dunch the car from time to time. Being old has nothing to do with it. Anyway, it's an opportunity to titivate it at someone else's expense.

I remember this from awhile ago. Did anyone go to look at it?

Looking for some advice from the huge bank of knowledge that is this thread. Been looking up and down the country, Sweden in this case for a nice un-molested e39 530i with the M-sport package and a manual gearbox, non to be had or they are shagged to within an inch of their life. And facelift e38 750's are thin on the ground anywhere and even more so here, sold mine, regret it massively..

So I'm looking at all kinds of relatively fun stuff, rear wheel drive, 4 seats and most likely German are my criteria and I found what looks like a very nice low owner 2002 AMG C32, reasonably priced aswell at roughly £4000. Silver with black leather. Very long legged tho at almost 175000 miles, but with a full service history and new brakes all around, but missing it's original AMG wheels. What to look out for on those? Apart from rust? There are a few to choose from at various prices too which is good. I know nothing about Benzes so any advice is appreciated.
Well, my RWD V8 engined 4 seat coupe has been on sale for 3 weeks without any one coming to look at it. I've only had one enquiry so far, from a time waster last weekend who after various e-mails asking about "rust" and saying he would ring me never came back to me. The car is a CLK430, I want just over 2 grand for it and it ticks most of your boxes by the sounds of it-although its not an AMG and is on Elegance spec.....

Quite. We all like our cars, but it's just metal that can be straightened, and none of us are immune from making a simple mistake.

I used to care about such things pre kids and life responsibilities, but surprised myself the other week by driving my Jag into my own beloved, beautifully restored Capri, denting both and actually not really giving a st. Mere money will fix it, something that cannot be said for all aspects of life.

Upsetting though it is to have someone dent your car, I'm firmly in the 'could be worse' category.

The old boy was probably someone like us at one stage: thought he ruled the world and owned the roads, life was his to conquer. Then something strange happened; he survived and out-lived many of his pals; he got old; he started making little mistakes. Then, fk me, he bashed the neighbour's car. He was mortified - so embarrassed he sent his wife round to fess-up and apologise.

Cut the old fella some slack. His insurance will pay and make good, but it might be the incident that drives him off the roads and reduces his independence.

It could have been worse. But it wasn't. One day, that will be me. And you.

This happened to my FiL. Some terrifying moments on the road, followed by a relentless convoy of frustrated traffic and a couple of close calls in Waitrose car park and finally a nerf on the gatepost at home and he finally conceded defeat and asked me to sell his car. So two years ago, aged 88 he gave up his owned-from-new pride and joy Ford Scorpio.

A period of frustration followed, but they are now happy to take a taxi to the pub, enjoy a meal and a couple of glasses of wine and a taxi home. Stress free, he's more relaxed now at 90 than he had been for many a year.

Your neighbour is probably mortified and more relieved than you can imagine at your attitude to his accident.
