Very nice, missing the rare and expensive v12 badges on the C pillars.
I recently bought a car missing those on its C-pillars wink Looks all the better for it IMO.
Haha, I was actually planning to source some of those for the C140 if I kept it. I'm loving it's replacement! Hope it is serving you well.
Mine came with V12 badges and a CL600 one on the boot lid. My first job was to remove them but I still have a V12 gear knob (slightly chewed)

Got someone looking at viewing the E65 tomorrow evening. I know full well I'll miss it if it goes!!

But with an impending house move, I also know that getting a cheap hack hatchback IS the more sensible (boring) thing to do.

Or keep it and hire a van for the move.

Or buy a barge estate. Everyone needs another car.

Not sure it's the best time to buy a house wink Better just hang on the E65 just in case!

If push comes to shove, you can live in your car. But you can't drive your house.

You really won't be saving much by changing and the reliability of the hatchback is unknown. S211 seems the answer.

If I sell mine, buy something for £2k I'm almost £3k up. That's a LOT of servicing on a cheap hatchback. Even if I were to spend £750 servicing it in the next 3 months I'm over £2k up and left with a car which will almost halve my fuel bill.... Which would mean £100/month more in just fuel alone.

You can buy a Primera estate for £500. Sorn the BMW for a few months, do the do, T-Cut the Primera, sell it for £750.

Laugh.

You guys really aren't helping! It's a really hard choice but we all know that the E65 will cost more to run in the long run than a little hatch!

I am posting to share a fantastic motoring book with you. It is called Motoring My Way by the late Stanley Sedgwick. You cannot fail to enjoy this, all the more because it is so cheap in hardback form. I post an excerpt below detailing Mr Sedgwick's journey from Dunkerque to Marseilles and back in a day. He took a borrowed Rolls Royce Corniche. He was obviously addicted to driving and seems to have been of sufficient good fortune to do it some style but without being a knob.

I am afraid I bought all six copies available on Amazon at 45p plus postage but there are still loads available at a very modest rate. For the eccentric wordsmiths in our midst, this is a must.

Not enough to douse the sorrow in your heart having lost the big barge.

I feel terrible now! You'll have to buy at 46p!

I figure they'll make good gifts. I found my copy to be signed by the author, a nice bonus.

1000 miles in the UK in one day...has anyone told Clarkson? Seems his type of challenge.

A colleague once went from Basildon to Padstow for lunch, pre-M25, and back for dinner. Through London. Mad.

More great information! Thanks so much. I guess you either factor in these repair costs, or get a car with all the hard work done. The expensive third option may be one of the uber expensive low mile cars.

Although as lovely as these look, I do wonder if they might prove to be too huge to live with. For example in a multi storey car park etc! I guess an E34 five would be the sensible option!
Can't go wrong with an E34 five. The smaller engine cars can still be had fairly cheaply. Sadly the bigger engine are starting to go up pretty quickly. Great looking cars imo. I'll be selling mine soon and i'm really going to miss it.

There is a lovely 535 kicking around in darkest south west wales that I've been trying to buy. Twice its been on ebay. 1295 and then 1195. Both times I've offered £1000 and been kicked back. Were it not a 6 hour train journey I'd have hit BIN!

I bloody well hope so...with the amount of money and effort being poured into my lastest project!

One of the reasons I haven't been here much of late.
