I can't stop obsessing about these.

Is there a more elegant, timeless headturner for £5000?

beautiful, though I wouldn't buy a 3.6 - I had one years ago and it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding.
Surely your ideal car then deadslow wink

I'd love another V12, but then I'd get the same grief that guy does.
That car has been on for quite a while - I remember seeing it, probably last year.

A genuine 150+mph from this one and that's before you remap it.

Always surprised me that Vauxhall managed to get "Project Senior Management Aren't happy Driving Vectras" off the drawing board.

That is stunning. It's great how a design can improve with age.

Having driven a couple of those the problem is they handle like a boat. All that power and you can't do anything with it.

Good spot! Although if you're going to pay >£500 in road tax the same lump could be had in later, slightly less weird cars this one is barely run in! http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

So has anyone still got a barge they bought from Volume 1 ?
My BMW 740i Sport was acquired in volume 3 and belongs to a mate's Dad these days.

I wouldn't actually have either, but at least the Signum is a sort of odd-ball choice whereas a Vectra is always a mistake.

Over-budget and, I suspect, underwhelming.

We should do a then and now update.

My first barge, acquired within the timeframe of the original thread, although I don't remember when I started posting.

Now.

If I appear to have grown up then it's only because you can't hear the Merc in a picture.

Woody, I remember your chalkboard Jag. Didnt you also have get a Citroen CX ? I wonder what happened to all the slightly more off the wall choices. I remember one guy buying a RR/Bentley for £1K, but he didnt post updates, always wanted to know how he got on.

What happened to the Jag in the End ?

Handsome looking T6 Petrol engined volvo XC90, registered post crippling Tax bracket I think, the fuel consumption will probably bankrupt anyone, if the failure of the gearbox doesn't but for doing the school run still looks like a good buy @ £3500k...

Good shout, and a good price too. I've just bought one myself (Shameless plug) http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

From my initial research, the T6 autobox is basically the worse of them all. Although they are all prone to issues as they get older. The V8 on mine is sublime, although 15MPG stings a little.
