There is just something very cool about these cars.

Getting rare in good condition now.

Would love a Turbo CX. They were very cool smile

Also, in other news, I am now officially the WORST at selling E39 BMWs...

I bought my 530 Sport Touring off here last November, initially as a winter lugger, then I realised it was too nice to work hard and thought I better sell it and get another old Jeep to abuse and dent. After all, the 530 boasts a fantastic history, an entire new cooling system and a recon gearbox - it's just in fantastic shape, when I viewed it it was immaculately valeted and wearing new Continentals all around.

So... I MOT'd the 530 yesterday...

It failed...

On a wiper blade and a slightly perished tyre valve...hehe

All fixed up for pence and back on the road.

Its done 160,000+ miles now and been absolutely brilliant. It's brisk, comfortable, spacious and a really lovely way to eat up the miles. I've done 500 mile London trips loaded to the hilt on several occasions and it never fails to please.

If I was to be majorly critical, I would say that I still slightly miss my old E320 CDi Estate for the fact it was almost as swift... even more capacious AND... incredibly, a constant 45mpg, where the 530 is more of a 25mpg kinda beast. But then, this is because the straight six snarl is delicious and for a big old estate it really picks up and rattles along.

So... here I am, nine months later and still not putting very much effort into the sale. hehe

Couple of pics from the original ad:

I honestly think I NEED to find a 540 in better condition (or an M5) to prise this one away from myself.
There's currently an E39 540i Manual Touring for sale on bmw5.co.uk by one of the Principal Members . Ex-BMW press car, double-glazed etc. The advert reads very well and he takes his cars as a serious hobby. Says everything works and sorted; possibly a little 'leggy' sounding on paper at 170K miles. £3k ono.

Might be worth you taking a gander over to the website and looking?

Chaps if I wanted a new set of genuine mats for my w211 does this mean a trip to the dealer or is there somewhere I can order online? I would like the all carpet style rather than ribbed if you know what I mean ....

Bit pricey, but lovely. Great specification.

Colour match on the front wings isn't great.

Wouldn't mind a set for the W126 as well if anybody can point me in the right direction.

Ordered a set of light grey velour from here for my Sec
Not quick though - they use the same factory as MB do, so if MB put a big order in, everything else gets de prioritised..

Ordered in June, was advised of 8-12 weeks leadtime, worth it though apparently if you read everything on MBClub or the Official MB club forums.

I used SVS for my W124 and R129 before and have been very happy with them. The website is ancient, but the customer service great.

Another vote for SVS from me. I've bought loads of mats from him and they're always excellent. Don't bother with the website but email or phone Tim.

The advert reads like you have to have read his previous 3351 posts with one photo from 40 feet away!

Daimlers - worth the excess over a Jaguar?

Or are we getting into classic territory?

As a first time barger I'm not sure what I'm doing hehe

We've seen that before.

I like it, but the ad doesn't inspire the sort of confidence I'd be looking for when buying a 30+ year old V12.

The agreed valuation on my 190 more than that... more than the 500SL!

I think I'd have to see it in person before judging it - sounds like it could be very nice indeed.

Slightly out of thread budget, but my old XJ12 (traded it in to him around 3 years ago...!) is still available -

Bought at 62k (ish) sold at 67k. Was a VERY nice motor.
