Thanks for the bodyshop recommendation. I have had a terrible time trying to find a decent paintshop.
I need the wing doing on my SL soon - I'd also like to know the price (via PM perhaps!).

Damn I was hoping you were going to say £200!

Worth it for such a good job though.

Small world. Not sure when you were at Uni but they've not been in those premises that long, they used to be at a smaller place at the other end of town.

That xj40 looks lovely - a great find. Manual/black/blue leather is a great combination.

Love that. Not keen on the colour of the wheels, but otherwise it looks fantastic. Some slot rim mesh-type BBS and it'd be a very mean motor.

Bought this today!

It's now sat on my drive.

This is my second S60, the first was a 2.4t auto.

This one is a lot quicker and the manual shift is far superior to the clunky A/W auto.

As before though the Hifi and seats (actually I think 'chairs' is a better description) are the stand out features plus the nice little convenience things like the parking ticket holder and pockets in the front of the seats.
clap great to see another thread purchase, I must admit to being slightly jealous. I hope it proves bork-free and enjoyable for you, please keep the thread updated with your progress.
Thanks! Fingers crossed.

It's my second thread purchase. The first is / was a pug 406 3.0 v6 manual saloon. Soon to be for sale now this has arrived. To be honest the only reason for the upgrade is I needed something a bit more presentable for visiting cusomers.

Colour looks unreal, I used to make that colour in photoshop a few years back when chroming cars virtually was the in thing. Would love to see it in real life. Would imagine living with it would be a constant disappointment every time it gets dirty though.

This is an extraordinarily rare car. There will be less than ten manual 3.6 litre Sovereigns left - I'd wager no more than five in the UK. I am confident it will be unique with this colour combination. They were never common cars, but almost all of them have been broken for the transmission which is widely used in kit cars.

Over budget but lots of tech, space and pace
Are these as robust as the previous XF30 cars?

For me, the ultimate indication of durability are those cars which the Arabs tend to hang onto. Out here in the UAE, there are still thousands of intergalactic XF30s kicking around, but comparatively very few XF40s.

And given that the average car out here will do well to see its fifth birthday, the fact that there are still plenty 15-20 yr old LS Lexi being driven in the manner the locals are accustomed to, is extremely high praise indeed.

Curious lack of current gen (XF40) cars though.
I would be interested in knowing this too. Suspect that the fact that the later car sold in comparatively tiny numbers explains why not many in the UAE rather than any durability concerns. TBH I cant even remember the last time I saw an XF40, but I see the odd 20-25 year old XF30......
I think the Lexufication of the Landcruiser (which only really got into its stride with the J200 in 2007) has taken some sales from the LS, but having been in both, there is still no substitute for the way the LS just hoovers up distance and vaporises surface imperfections. With the 'Cruiser - impressively refined as it is - you still feel its 3 tonne heft and the associated compromise this has on damper control.

I just find it odd: the Ls was practically designed for the Middle East and it sold like hot cakes in 10/20/30 guise. It's clearly the car you want to withstand a nuclear holocaust, so why is no-one buying the current generation?

Little update on the SL: got an MOT, full service, tax and detail. The detailer said the paint job was the best he'd seen in a long time, which is a relief. It's going well, now just need a tidy up on the leather to remove the creasing marks from the bolster.
