That speedo. fk me. 9 seconds to 100 or thereabouts. I can easily believe that'll nudge the double ton.

No it's had a remap, I think it'd be rude not to. Very tempted to chuck in a cheeky £3500 offer for that, the OH has 6 years NCB sitting unused at that works out as £450 for a year to insure it. Any of the modern merc beards live near crawley and fancy an outing??

The description says it had a generic remap, so has an extra 30-100bhp depending on who did the tune.

A standard car will still comfortably do 0-100 in under 10 seconds.

Probably the best idea - depending on how much the torque converter holds you might need to do 3-4 changes to actually change more than 90% of the oil!
Early 722.6s had a drain plug in the TC, but it disappeared in the late 90s. There is a way of draining all the oil, but it necessitates disconnecting the pipe to the oil cooler, but at least then the fluid can be replaced in one go.

For me, the five grand limit is more psychological than financial. It's always felt like a nice ceiling to me, and I'm not sure there's much of a reason to change it.

But wtf do I know?!
Very much the same for me. I don't suppose I'll ever be able to justify spending more than five large on a car. Not on its purchase, anyway.

I think I have a mental barrier at £5k because of this thread. Were I to become very rich, I would merely buy more of them!

I did it that way on mine, not too tricky but I will caveat that with the fact I was replacing the radiator at the same time so had that pipe removed. I think the old pipe was pretty 'second hand' so would not want to risk removing it if it didn't need it.

The other thing with the full flush is you have to bin loads of ATF which ain't cheap!

Going to call about that S600 tomorrow. I have a good feeling about it as I too am from Crawley!

Chaps, I've never had a w124 and have fancied trying one for some time. Mate of mine is a small time
Trader and has just picked up a 1995 e320 coupe and offered it to me. It's a nice blue colour with mushroom leather, 130k but it has been say for 2 years with no MOT (but the not history looks ok), it was a also a cat c in 2009.... Oh and it has a misfire.... Worth a cheap punt for a few months or avoid ?

Misfire could mean a new wiring loom is required. Merc went all eco during this period and looms biodegrade.
That is worse case scenario though....

Yes I did wonder about the loom.... Would there be obvious signs if it's failed? Frayed cable covers etc ?

Saw this on fb today. Looks decent, but the loom would take about a grand to sort.

Just start poking around the wiring, it's likely to fall apart. Very brittle.

Can you send me the link to it on FB Harry?

I share the concern on the loom.... But it might just need a set of plugs ?! Wishful thinking perhaps ...

The best way is to take the lid off the coil pack gallery - my 1995 car was running poorly with botched cable splices - but just poking around the ancillaries at the front of the engine will reveal brittle and cracked insulation where the sheathing falls short of the connectors. I would say a 1995 car is certain to have been built with a bio-degradeable loom.

Early 300E, says interior and engine good, so I assume it's rusty. Plate included for £950 though... http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C780102

Mercedes 450 SEL Auto

164,000 miles

£1,020.00 when posted.

A few things wrong so would need a close inspection.

Still love it but could be a money pit

Just wanted to post this as I think it is stunning.

Unfortunately requires far too much work but hopefully someone restores it.
