Thats a Quattro Sport so an S8 in all but engine.
Airbag light was on I noticed but other than that looks a fine old thing. I had a '95 A8 Quattro Sport and it was superb.
Only thing to beware of is the 5 speed gearbox that one has isn't super robust and not nearly as reliable as the earlier 4 speed.
Great feedback.

Love when you get a past owner giving you the information which many do not know.

Honestly never knew the 4 speed was more reliable than the 5 speed.

Good to know smile
Other thing to be aware of is they have an appetite for front suspension arms (and there are 8 of them). Not a big job to change nor particularly expensive but it is a job that will need doing time and again.

But that extra 65bhp makes the S8 that much more fun smile

There were two 5 speed autoboxes on these. The one I had in the S8 never gave any problems at all.

And just to add some yang to the ying have what I thought would be a LHD euro-trip-family mobile, but this Cadillac SRX 3.6 with an LPG conversion is RHD. Why did they do that??? It does look comfy, and 8.1 to 60 is not as sluggish as I thought it might be. I await the flaming!

Is it just me, or is that LPG tank absurdly big? I quite like it though for being so outlandishly left-field. Talking of fields, I can't think why he's driven onto his lawn for the photos...
Is that a re-badged R-Class?

Nope, its based on the GM Sigma platform that yielded only Cadillac models.

He also appears to have a stack of counterfeit banknotes in his boot.

I hope that's his neighbour's lawn - that looks like some proper long-term damage he's done there.

I particularly enjoyed how he highlighted the 3rd row seats, which are rendered completely unusable by that mahoosive LPG tank....

What a twonk.
Don't like it. This is the 'early' 350 bhp ish car with the same engine as the W210 E55. Needs to be a later S/C car for full 500 bhp. Later exhaust and lights have been added for to give the impression it is a S/C car but it is not. Better off with a 300bhp S500 for half the price.

Mercedes E280

6 Door 8 Seater Pullman Limousine

79,350 miles

Personally love it but doubt it will be any use apart from what it was made to do.

Be very surprised if it made £5,000

BTW I am not being serious. Just thought it looked cool biggrin

I think that was the 5HP24 in the S8. The other was the 5HP19 from memory. The 5HP24 has max input torque of around 420Nm while the 5HP19 is 350Nm.

The 5HP24 had issues with cracked A clutch circlips causing a delay and thud going into gear and the reverse piston failing causing loss of reverse gear.
The 5HP19 can suffer from flare and slip if fluid replacement is skimped on. Audi don't have a replacement schedule for fluid but in general if the fluid is replaced every 80k miles or less they tend to be ok for reliability. Any car with over 100k miles would be a concern and if you bought one with that mileage a fluid change should be high on the list of things to do immediately.

For comparison the 4HP24 is rated at 450Nm and generally referred to as bullet proof.

A car-trading Polish guy in cricklewood selling a complex once-flagship Mercedes at a low-ish price, what could possibly go wrong hehe
That actually doesn't look too bad in the pics, cheap way into an M120 engined W140 for sure.

I thought the same, actually quite tempted. I think 4 door W140s are the future as far as I am concerned.

Polish vendor wouldn't put me off; all the Poles I know are decent folk. You can have rogues in any nationality.

Interesting that you didn't gel with the CL.

I'm not sure if that is the same vendor but that cropped up last year. It's too dear IMO

As you have stated their is just something about these cars.

Totally useless for an everyday car but still good to see.
