Bit of poor paint? Meh. It's a working Jaguar. With a ticket, and a V8. For £700! Because you'd chip him down to at least that. You'd get all of it back for the wings, wheels and seats if it blew up next week. Which it wouldn't.

Paintwork or not, there's a fun couple of years motoring left in that. I've seen more expensive lease car arrangement fees.
If I was interested I would probably chip him £500 and he'd be grateful laugh

plenty of e39s on here so may as well post my own. Not had loads of interest but didn't think it was quite into shed territory yet? I'm sure it could get SOTW if it was cheap enough... 1500 quid at the moment but open to offers.

A car-trading Polish guy in cricklewood selling a complex once-flagship Mercedes at a low-ish price, what could possibly go wrong hehe
That actually doesn't look too bad in the pics, cheap way into an M120 engined W140 for sure.
I thought the same, actually quite tempted. I think 4 door W140s are the future as far as I am concerned.
Perhaps you could consider it if the W220 bi-turbo doesn't check out? I'd be interested myself but with a small house purchase project due to exchange in the next 4 weeks and a baby due beginning of October I really must not take on more 'stuff' for the time being. Perhaps I should find some small jobs to do on the 560 SEC to get my car 'fix'.

Congrats in advance for the sproglet.

I'd say titivating the 560 would get you a good dose of car fixery.

Fine-looking motor car, that's for sure. I like it. So many barges, so few parking spaces (and so little money...).

As an aside, all three of my barges have thrown good four figure bills this month.

Other than a failed window winder and some electrics for the hazards/indicators in the TWR XJS everything is really to be considered consumable on vehicles of this type. Some due to mileage (210k+) some due to ongoing recommissioning of new arrivals to the fleet.

It would have been more helpful had they not all turned up at once though.

Oh the joys of classic motoring

That is my plan yes. Spent a bit of time titivating the C140 prior to the new owner picking up, in particular the errant seatbelt butler. After disassembling most of that side of the car's interior I looked at a wiring diagram and realised the door switch could be at fault. Being an old school Merc it was quite possible to disassemble the door switch and clean the contacts. Sure enough it sorted it out.

Thanks to the disassembly process what could have been a 10 minute job was in fact 2 hours. Ah well I know next time.....

My passenger seat belt butler seemed to fix itself, but coincidentally the interior lights wouldn't come on when the door was opened. Sounds very similar.

For an £800 car park snotter, who cares about the paint? It's a close enough match for the purpose. Not forgetting it's actually never going to reach the lower end of thread budget.

Oh, and what's wrong with loafers and corduroy trousers?

I'm tempted to buy it just for the heck of it.
Slight issue that it only has a months worth of MOT. Likelihood that PO chopped it in ahead of drama?

It will be the same. Very very easy fix, the door switch pulls easily then can be disassembled and sanded / cleaned. There are two circuits within the switch one for lights one for the seat butler, if the lighting one is kaput the butler one won't be far behind.

I would think a new switch would only be a few quid if you could not be bothered to fix it

Personally think this represents excellent value at the asking price. Yes there's niggles but if it was mint it would easily fetch 3.5, it's a nice colour, got nice wheels and xenons.

The thing with niggles and bodywork is you'll need an enthusiast to take it on, so more patience required I think.

Well i must say that could be first class.

The MOT history is outstanding. Never failed and only and advisory for tyres many years ago.

Interesting 5 year gap in MOT history between 2010 and 2015 (and a huge fail list in 2015!).
