The Sierra has never been a barge.
The modern MINI is as ridiculously huge as the fiat 500. Gawd knows what those people were thinking.
Yes the Sierra is not a barge but I use to sit in the back of one thinking they were quite big.The modern MINI is as ridiculously huge as the fiat 500. Gawd knows what those people were thinking.
After looking in the back now I must have been very small

A RR that has all four seats showing signs of use.
And I love the way you insert a cassette into the what must be bespoke stereo.
I wonder where the photos were taken that it's 33C in the shade.
I don't think barge is necessarily size-related, but for me it has to have been designed for a comfortable ride and seats, something that you would jump in for a 300 mile trip without thinking about a lack of comfort.
The 190 qualifies for me because it was very much designed for comfort. It was also aspirational for those sitting next to it in traffic in their crappy Escorts/Astras etc, even a base 3-pointed star used to have some panache.

Is a Rover SDI really the same size as a modern Astra?
Has anyone got the stats easily to hand?
If so that is remarkable.
Rover SD1 was 4727x1768x1385mm (LxWxH), the current Astra 5-door hatch is 4370x1809x1485mm. Not quite as long but wider and taller.Has anyone got the stats easily to hand?

Lovely thing though.

A great start on the list!
- All Mercedes are barges, including 4 cylinder 190s, even manuals. It's just how things are around here.
- Fords and Vauxhalls are frowned on, even with 6 cylinder engines
- Anyone is welcome to come to the next barge 1-5 meet, barge or no barge. Link here: https://doodle.com/poll/tt3kd5ky44zdgwgr

I know this is not a barge and has only two seats so is this to be stopped?
As mentioned above the cars we thought were barges in the 80's and 90's are small compared to modern cars.
I could not believe the size of a Ford Sierra I saw parked up in a car park last week.
The Mini Countryman beside it looked huge.

I like the menancing, square jawed thuginess but... Bentley badges. They are a bit naff.

My SL has 4 seats assuming the back seat passengers have no legs. I know this is not a barge and has only two seats so is this to be stopped?

It also has the requisite waftability in spades.

How is the Lexus going?
I'm glad I didn't accept your offer of £2501 for my car, I got £4k for it in the end, so worth holding out a little longer.
Nice. That was a LOT of car for £4k and I genuinely think both you and the new owner have done well there.I'm glad I didn't accept your offer of £2501 for my car, I got £4k for it in the end, so worth holding out a little longer.
As for the Lexus, i've not driven it yet (other than home) I'm still in my E220 Diesel cab, the lease runs out next week and i wanted something to bridge the gap until an attractive deal comes up.
When i look at the Lexus it says "Old man" to me but on the drive back from purchase it was quite spirited albeit handled like a Sunseeker in a force 8.
The equipment levels are something else and the silence was golden.
Really appreciate you asking.
dare i ask about the Corolla?

It came basically fully serviced (oil, coolant, brake fluid, air filter, spark plugs).... But it should have had a few minor things checked that I'm not sure were done (drive belt, clutch fluid etc) but it drives well enough.
So..... I'm quite a few £ better off (for it didn't cost me what I sold the 7 series for by a LONG stretch......AND it's cheaper to run and servicing will be much cheaper too...... So whoever said the car you own is the cheapest car isn't right in this instance!
Barge respect at a house I walk past to the tube station - the owner there has 2 of the latest Range rovers, a g63 GWagen, a Rolls Royce phantom, AM vantage..... and a white mk2 Granada with 24v Granada Scorpio alloys with blacked out centre and polished rims

I'd like this as a mildly interesting, semi-retro-barge curio.

A pal had one. Typically good French ride/handling combo, handsome looks, and the 24v V6 powerplant was an absolute honey. Of course, nobody bought one.

Fabulous. Not seen one of those in years! Love the combined oil level/temperature gauge as well, why don't more cars have that?http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=...

Indeed. No normal person would use their own money to purchase one of these.I'm currently preparing my 190e for its MOT test next week. It's booked in with a garage I've started using and have been impressed with so far. They're going to provide me with a fail sheet on Tuesday - then...
1) The friendly welder is going to tickle her underbelly to a high standard.
2) The MOT garage will pass it and do a few jobs for me at the same time.
Can someone help me with some advice?
A) It needs a ball joint as the steering is much heavier one way than the other. The independent specialist who diagnosed this is too far away (and has no courtesty car) to justify the journey. So what should I buy and do I need to do both sides?
B) Which of these do you prefer? I like them both: the plain font is much simpler and in keeping with the car, but the 3D is very much of its time and (IMHO) suits it. I simply can't decide.
