Not sold on the colour but looks like a well looked after car.

I like the colour. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/j...
I suspect it isn't that cheap, and 'a credit to its former keeper' is another of those pointless, meaningless expressions that really irritates me.

I want the petrol. No messing. I don't like oil burning soot chuckers. However I love the range of the diesel. Clarkson drove and X350 from Basel to Blackpool on one tank.
I'm driving Goodwood to Lake Konstance in a couple of weeks and the range would help, not stopping for fill ups.
Its a silly thing, but a real dilemma for me.

The 2.7d always felt underpowered in my S-Type, and real world economy was little better than the 3.0 V6. It also threw up several absolute stinking bills relating to it's diesel-ness and they seem to be harder on the torque converter and gearbox too. I want the petrol. No messing. I would rather pay for a petrol X350 than have a diesel one given to me and have to run it for two years / 50,000 miles out of my own pocket

How often do you do trips like that though? If it's a weekly gig I can see that refuelling might be a drag. If it's once a year, to discard petrol for diesel is the work of a lunatic. Pics please - I love American barges. A lad I used to work with had a 1970s Chevrolet Caprice Classic and it was fantastic. Proper "pimp" spec velour interior and about 28' long.
Happy to oblige with this slice of awesomeness. Surely a car name has never been so misappropriated. Some more pics from today's local classic car show across the road. Apologies for the bearding, I haven't done a car show in years. This 190 really was as good as new: absolutely factory fresh and original.
Plenty of SL's to choose from, but this is how a '129 should look. It's many years since I owned one and remember them as a pretty big car, but these days seem surprisingly compact. The shallow dash and narrow centre console of the interior seemed far more snug than I remember.
Immaculate and original 260E, looked to be imported from Japan
Multi concours winning, ultra low mile A124. If one needed reference as to how these cars appeared when delivered new, then look no further.
Very, very nice X300 Daimler Six LWB, 4 litre AJ16 under the bonnet and up for sale too at top end of thread budget. Lovely unrestored car with just a very light patina to show for a privileged life well lived. Had a chinwag with the well heeled elderly owner and his wife- turns out the Daimler is complimented by an LS400 in the garage, as is mine. A man after my own heart, aside from the well heeled bit.

For comparison ...
PH ads are pretty universally crap and overpriced. But the market for 13 year old V8 petrols is small and you can afford to be choosy. I'd choose to research elsewhere I think. olly755 said:

1990 Starion will not interest many on this thread, but at £3250 it really should!

I see the advert has been removed.http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C781007
The car is not for this thread but I love the Starion Turbo.
Cars with flared arches always gets my votes.
Really wish Mitsubishi would make cars like this again.

Agree.I've never bought the oil burner and had many a big petrol motor, I don't have a carbon foot print, I have a carbon arse print.

PS anyone want a 500SL? I'll post you the keys and give you the Google Map reference of a random street in Edinburgh.
It had been standing for ages at my old place so I changed the battery, started it, got it through town to a busy junction where it died and didn't quite have enough to restart. My phone also died as well. A nice chap from ATS saved me by towing it to a safe place.
I really can't be bothered to sort it. The roof needs fixing, I have not been driving it due to this hence the battery/running problem. My boredom threshold is quite low.
Sorry to hear that. If you're genuinely wanting rid and not just in the heat of the moment I'm based in Edinburgh and been actively after a '129 project for a while but the right one hasn't shown up yet...It had been standing for ages at my old place so I changed the battery, started it, got it through town to a busy junction where it died and didn't quite have enough to restart. I guess that under scoring is pretty rare, but they're really only there to offer a guide. +/- 10% wouldn't be unusual for an OBC.
Getting more than you expect is always nice though!
It certainly was pleasant! So far so good! Though I should probably stop venturing on this thread! Whilst I do miss the ability to lope down the MWay at high speeds without the engine merely breaking sweat, I am liking the fact I'm a couple of thousand quid up, left with a car that's already saving me money on fuel, and servicing will be substantially cheaper....all towards getting my very own place.Getting more than you expect is always nice though!

My 124 may just have died. Psycho deer strike 10 miles from holiday home. Radiator is bust. Condensor, headlamp, slam panel. And the grille and bonnet, obvs. Unavoidable: the fker was just there. All the way up from Melrose I was thinking, "I hope we don't strike a deer in the dark". Weird.
It will be born again.
But what the fk to do for the next week in the highlands sans car?

Sh*t! I've had a few close calls over the years. Where are you? From that pic the car looks to have held up pretty well. Considering it can be like hitting a wall!It will be born again.

Wasn't a poster on here discussing putting their Super V8 X350 up for sale? The 4.2s are well and truly into thread budget for a nice one now and approaching half thread budget for a leggy 3.0!
The car did a smashing job. It was a big deer and we hit it at 40. It got us to our holiday house without dying, which is pretty important at 10pm on a Sunday night. I'm in Torridon. I'm likely to get the car trucked back to Newcastle and then either to hire something or to go and get the 190. There's a garage at Lochcarron but getting a rad is likely to take all week and let's face it, driving it like that is not ideal.
Thanks all for the concern. I must admit, before the deer hit the ground I was thinking, "what can I get next?"
