I'm lurking in wait for the later bonkers twin-turbo V12 760's to plummet to my meagre budget levels.
What can they be tuned to?!
Radio 4

Unless you get a crap one then it's stuck on Radio1.

They don't come more bargey than a 6 litre Mercedes Benz.

Looks like ownership may prove "entertaining" though

Love it. No bids and minutes to go.

Looks like there's a mound of dead Russian mobsters in the boot.
It's on retrorides too, same username as someone on pistonheads...

that saab.......damn thats one hell of a nice car - you just know it will go another 100k without breaking sweat...
In general yes, but at that boost level it won't go another 100K without shredding at least one gearbox. Abbot tuned turbos are notorious for it. Lovely car but I would turn the wick down a bit.

I think he meant £100/month to cover £4000, £4000/monthly £100 is 40 months, so 3 years and 4 months, not 40 years....or have I missed something?
My fault, crossed wire in my head. I think I saw a post on a different thread and then that comment and linked the two

I confuse myself sometimes....

I have half a little pot of gliptone dye to recolour that W202's steering wheel, any of you fine people are welcome to it!

It was a bit of a nightmare finding the colour code, min the end I had to send the wheel for a match.

It's on Gumtree as well, he is clearly advertising it widely but at a fairly high price in my view given the issues with it.

I'd suggest that's underpriced. I had a 2-owner 104k mile 9000 Aero which I sold to a Saab enthusiast via a wanted ad for £3k in 2006; they were rare with few owners and that low a mileage then, so now they must be rare as hens' teeth.

Drove like a dog of course; torque steer was horrendous and the clutch was ridiculously heavy even when new. And the famous winged seats sit a bit higher than the normal non-electric ones so squash your thighs against the steering wheel. I was glad I had it, having enjoyed driving my father's earlier 9000s when I was a teenager, but I wouldn't bother getting another. Someone should buy that one though.

More than, in my view. 3k tops on my spreadsheet wink

And it wouldn't be where my 3k went either, nice as it is.

That will be an enthusiast purchase, not a bargeist.

Charming ad, even if it's not exhaustive about the car! http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C792611

I think this old Cynthia might benefit from something like this for extra giggles.

If it were 3k I'd have bought it already, even though all my other cars have given me bigger than hoped for bills this year so I've been hoping my perfect 9000 doesn't come up for a while yet! This one is a bit more modified than I'd like, but seems to have been well done. I've been looking for a good 9000 Aero for years now, but I am picky - must be dark colour and preferably with a sunroof (which this one lacks).

Obviously you'd want to remove the tow bar and patriotic badging, but it is rather lovely.

That looks superb, and the listing implies he'd take just over a bag for it. In extraordinary nick for the miles. Clearly been loved but you'd need to check the electrics forensically. I had a (non-turbo) 820 coupe that regularly refused to put its windows back up. Immobiliser was a nightmare too.

That Rover is an absolutely great find.
I used the REALLY want one of these in my mid-20's (yeah yeah, I know what you're thinking).
Now I have mortgages etc, I haven't got a pot to piss in frown

  • Edit* - He's also seriously considering a genuine £1k offer. Please someone buy it. I'll promise I'll buy it from you in 2 years for 25% more than you've paid in the same condition...!

Oh wow, I had a '97 Vitesse as my first "quick" car in 2005 and absolutely loved it. I have to say though, it was awfully fragile both mechanically and electrically.
