Black wheels on everything.

Because nothing improves the look of a car more than making it look like a 15 year old Golf from a Council estate.

Touch screens, awful things that should have died in the 80's before they came mainstream.

And yes I had an 80's car with one (MZ21 Soarer in case you are wondering)

It was crap in 1986 & its not got any better! And for you young'ens that below is a tapedeck that played music hehe it also had a TV in the dash that still worked 5 years ago.

Cars with 'park assist' for those 'well lacking' who scraped through their driving test. Drivings a skill, if we don't keep it alive we'll be driven around at a point in the future :-(

Stupidly bright brake lights that on some cars amount to an arms race and won't turn off.

Daytime running lights, DRL's or stupid fairy lights.

In the late 80's and all through the 90's fog lights on for no reason at all nobbers were a legitimate target for verbal castagation, now they can do it with impunity using factory fitted weapons grade retina burning DRL's. They don't even need to flick a switch. Somehow it seemed that the verbal abuse started to get through in the 00's as it seemed to diminish.

Thinking about it, anyone who buys a new car is by default a 90's foglight nobber. And everyone hated them except other foglight nobbers.

Actually add to that the arms race of ever increasingly bright front lights.

I know they are supposedly fitted for 'elf and safety / visibility reasons but if they blind everyone else on the road they are actually counter productive.

I want the good old days back with tungsten bulbs, no scrub that, candles in coach lanterns and a bloke walking with a red flag in front...

Retina-burning headlights capable of illuminating the dark side of the Moon. Great for the photocopier selling tosser behind the wheel, less so for oncoming traffic, or is it meant to be like that in a typical "I drive a fking Audi so fk you" fashion?

That genuinely made me lol!

Slammed or "stanced" cars. What in the name of holy fk is stanced anyway? Why make a car so low it's barely driveable? fk me there's a speed bump! Que a 10 mile diversion to drive round the bd thing.

That and those stupid cars with ridiculous amounts of camber. Just buy some fking wheels that fit!!

EV...

No soul, no mechanical melody. I don't care if they are fast.

Thankfully, there aren't enough magnets in the world to sustain the silent steboxes.

People on car forums who moan about advances in technology used on modern cars.....

Betting none of them use a 1980's Montego as a daily "because it's more pure" or "because they don't burn people's retinas"

Rear lights which stand proud of the bodywork, e.g. the latest Honda Civic, most modern Ferraris. Round instrument cowls around each dial. Look sort of OK straight-on but wonky from any other angle. Much prefer all the instruments under one clear screen.

Those stupid single fog lights that come on as the car turns - appears to be mainly VAG models.

What on earth is the purpose of them?
It might be foggy around the corner. smile

They work well on wife's Tiguan - can see the edge of our drive when turning in. When reversing in the dark they both come on, which seems somewhat pointless.

I was once in a Volkswagen dealership's service department listening to the woman behind the desk try to explain these to an old bloke who'd brought his new car in complaining the lights were faulty because his mates said they were going on and off as he steered around a car park.

Another trend, if you can call it that, is buying a diesel car for economy even though you only do a couple of thousand miles a year. Another old bloke there kept having to take his car back because he wasn't driving it enough to stop the DPF keep getting clogged. He'd either chosen a diesel for economy or been persuaded into one when he clearly didn't need one and one wasn't suitable for his needs.

Definitely auto daytime running lights, and I don't really know why. They're not dangerous or causing an inconvenience, it's just that they're so bloody unnecessary.

Park assist, which to be fair, if it stops someone bumping in to or damaging my (or anyone else's) car. Could be viewed as a good thing but in reality is just for lazy people. I don't trust lazy people behind the wheel, even when parking. You're in control of a 1600kg's of metal, bloody well make an effort and pay attention, learn how to bloody park, it was part of your test!

Brake assist, same as above to be honest. "The system only operates at 14mph or less..." or some such nonsense. What are you doing so intently, which has you're full and total focus. That you can't detect that you should be applying the brake yourself or taking corrective / avoiding actions to avoid hitting something, at under 14mph? Again, just for lazy people, who aren't paying attention and if that's the case, I question their suitability to hold a driving license.
